wilted blossom
Paph haynaldianum has always been one of my favorites. I picked this plant up from Ray Rands in 1987. Paph haynaldianum can be a reluctant bloomer. This one is infrequent, I've had it bloom maybe 5 times in 22 years. Dividing haynaldianum down to a two growth division may prevent blooming for 3 to 5 years. If you want haynaldianum blooms every year, try to keep a clump going with at least 5 growths. A nice sturdy survivor that tolerated all the mistakes I have made over the last 22 years, but it is just a bit shy about blooming.
In comparison to the newer variety of haynaldianum that has been posted recently, note that this common variety has spots and green on the base of the dorsal, and purple stripes in the upper half of the dorsal. These are traits of the typical haynaldianum race.
