This is a photo of my new Paph lowii. I bought it in bloom and I think it's really amazing, especially the full twist of the petals!

I think the arched petals are so graceful in comparison to the ones held out straight. Also the spots on this one have the hollow centers with dark edges.

Do you know the parentage/source of this plant?

Hi Rick, I will have to ask about the particular cross. But it is of OZ stock purchased from Paphiness Orchids.

Cool. It's reminiscient of a plant I got from Andy's years ago (that I ultimately lost last year). A lot of Andy's plants originated from OZ too.

I bred it several times and I know a lot of seedlings from this plant came out of Troy Meyers. I think Olympic Orchids got quite a few of these. Anyway I lost all of my first batch of these, but it's probably about time to see a few of these in flower.

With multi seedlings I'd keep hitting a ceiling when the plants would hit about 6". This changed dramatically when I started the magnesium supplementation. Unfortunatly to late for that batch of seedlings, but I have a whole new batch that's growing even faster with my improved nutrition.

Thanks David, I'm going to give it lots of love and hope for great blooms from future growths! Rick, as per your experience, I think I'll try a magnesium sulfate soak once every month or two.

Before you "soak" it you might look up some of the old threads on Epsom salt use and the basket culture I'm using.

I add about an 1/8 - 1/16 of a tsp per gallon on a weekly basis to my ferilizer mix on warm sunny days. I've gone has high as a tsp per gallon maybe for a single shot in the summer.

Rick in Tx is adding a small amount into his irrigation water so the plants get a small dose with every watering.

I recently had a revelation that my magnesium underdose may actually be a potassium overdose, so I've quit adding supplemental K from potash, and looking for other ways to reduce the available K in my fertilizer program.

So just a caution to avoid doing to much of anything at one time.

:clap::drool: Nice lowii! :drool::clap:
I gotten some nice things from Dean too.
