    Phragmipedium `Rio Mira´

While the plant on the right (see above) has been blooming continuously for more than two years, the plant on the left has finally started to bloom. Both are Rio Mira. While one has the characteristics of longifolium, the other has a clear tendency towards hirtzii.

    Phragmipedium longifolium alba

Acquired through convoluted paths in Germany, I suspect it was from @Hilmar

    Phragmipedium longifolium alba

A year ago I got a strong young plant of Phragmipedium alba. I didn't believe it would bloom so quickly. The petals have a length of 13cm. I'm quite happy for a first bloom.

    Phragmipedium Tupac Amaru

Yes, it is the first bloom, so there is legitimate hope. No, I don't know the parents or the nursery where it comes from. I'm currently in the process of researching this.

    Phragmipedium Tupac Amaru

Phragmipedium Tupac Amaru (Peruflora's Cirila Alca x kovachii) is hardly different from my Fritz Schomburg. She is said to come from American elite breeding, but I expected more. 13cm wide.

Catyclia El Hatillo (Encyclia tampensis x C. mossiae)

Very nice Tom. This year mine wasn't quite as lush as last year but still beautiful.

    What is that?

Thank you very much, that helps a lot. I can confirm that it is particularly common in freshly potted plants and in plants that were previously in poor condition. Couldn't it be that it is still a fungus that prefers to attack the weakened plant?

    What is that?

Does anyone know what that is, it is an intermediate form of drying up and rotting, especially on soft-leaved Phragmipedia like besseae, besseae hybrids but also on Limoinierianum and others. The young shoots are particularly affected. If it hits the heart leaf, the shoot is destroyed. Thank...

Phragmipedium caricinum - Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

Thanks, it's a disaster, I've spoken to several dealers, the market for Phragmipedia seems to have completely collapsed. I got a Caricinum from a dealer in Dresden. The plant is said to be very old. Unfortunately, she wasn't in good condition, but she was still alive. Now I'm eagerly waiting...

Phragmipedium caricinum - Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

@FrankRC Who sells caricinum plants in Germany?

    Catyclia El Hatillo

She reliably does it once a year. Not as crazy as last year but still nice. And the scent to intoxicate.

    Ecuagenera is puzzling us again.

That would interest me too. You hear something like that all the time, but no one reports anything further. Is it just one copying from the other?

    Ecuagenera is puzzling us again.

I can go to Ecuagenera-Europe myself. However, the plants there are significantly worse and more expensive than those that come from Ecuador. What comes from Ecuador cannot be compared to the plants in the plastic bags at the exhibitions. I would say that about 80% of the plants that come from...

I repent, ashes on my head!
