    Are these leaves too yellow?

Lots of mislabeled plants, plus the plants were loaded with mealies and many had poor or no roots toward the end. All of my roths have bloomed true but hybrids have been a crapshoot.

    Are these leaves too yellow?

It works in inorganic media, he helped me to tune my feeding in rockwool.

    Paph Season 2024

The Not Hilo Black Eagle has turned out quite a bit beefier than any from the other grex that turned out to be Hilo Bald Eagles. I'm wondering if it may be Duke of Burgundy (Lady Isobel x Johanna Burkhardt) which was available at the same time. Hopefully it will become clearer as more bloom out...

Welcome! Variegated Paphs do exist but they are pretty uncommon and are not always stable. I have a variegated rothschildianum in sheath now, it hasn't started new growths yet so I don't know if the variegation will persist.

Thank you, 2024 is looking like it will be even better.

    Paph Season 2024

Mislabeled plants. PAM0246 rothschildianum 'Gigantic Dorsal' × Johanna Burkhardt 'Black Hole' bloomed out as Hilo Black eagles, I've bloomed 6 or 8 of my dozen. The one opening now is from PAM0252 rothschildianum 'Chia-Yi' × Wössner Black Wings GM/TPS and is clearly a stonei hybrid, likely Hilo...

    Paph Season 2024

And some more nonsense coming, this last batch of OI plants is turning out to be a mess.

    Paph Season 2024

Starting the new year with a goofy platyphyllum 'Super Clone' × self. If you followed my thread last year you may remember the batch of plants tagged as Hilo Black Eagle that turned out to be Hilo Bald Eagle. I have a second grex (or do I? The tags say so) of Hilo Black Eagle spiking this...

Paph. platyphyllum 'Super Clone x sib' first bloom

Do you have any pics of ones that look like a stonei? I've only seen a handful of platyphyllum and they've all looked more similar to kolopakingii like the op plant and mine.

Paph. platyphyllum 'Super Clone x sib' first bloom

I have a 'Super Clone'x self starting to open, it looks like it will have an unmarked or barely marked dorsal. Also have a 'Golden Boy' x self in bud which has bloomed previously in 2021. Previous bloom: If these platyphyllum are truly an artificial hybrid they are remarkably...

    You be the judge

I agree with the majority of what you're saying, I just don't think it's possible to have a truly blind judging system. If you spend enough time in a center you know who the regular exhibitors are, what they grow, and the general appearance of their plants. For example if you see a multifloral...

    You be the judge

I've seen you post some great plants, your specimen St Swithin in particular deserves to be shown if you get the chance.

    Paph Season 2023

Coming in just under the wire, the last Paph of 2023 and a Phrag for good measure. Happy New Year!

I'm going to need you to quote me there chief.

Who are you even talking to? I thought you were taking your money and leaving.

    You be the judge

If all goes well I'll be taking it back this summer with two spikes.

    You be the judge

I've experienced this one personally, one judge wouldn't come off 74 when the rest were in the mid 80s. Went to the backup team and they told me to bring it back when it blooms again. Overall I agree with your assessment though.
