    PEOY

The first one does not look right at all for a PEOY. Angel Hair or a similar type of cross seems more likely to me.

    Slippers in inorganic media

If you look through my past posts I've shared my experiences growing in rockwool/perlite mix. It took a couple of years to find the right fertilizer regimen but I've been happy with everything except the cost. I'm experimenting now with cypress mulch/perlite for my epiphytes and a few expendable...

    LaCrosse wireless weather station fail

I have my Sensorpush sensor on a stake in a plant pot so it gets soaked every time I water and never skips a beat, nor has it been bothered by humidity averaging at 87%. They're well worth spending a little more on compared to the cheap monitors.

    LaCrosse wireless weather station fail

I've been very happy with Sensorpush, I have sensors in all three of our greenhouses and the wireless gateway for remote monitoring and alarms.

    Paph. Anitum x Randsii

The RHS doesn't have a name listed for adductum or anitum x randsii that I can find. I think I have half a dozen seedlings that are likely another two years from blooming so I can't help with pics.

    Paphiopedilum glanduliferum at Show

Here is a praestans as an example. The foliage is compact, narrow, stiff, so thick that it is almost succulent, and deep green in color. While there may be exceptions to these traits, every plant of that species complex I've seen have looked more or less similar and very distinct from the...

    Paphiopedilum glanduliferum at Show

Plants from the glandiferum/praestans/wilhelminae complex have pretty distinct foliage, even out of bloom it should be clear this is a hybrid.

Where do we go with legal imports?

I was just there last week and they have plenty of seedlings probably 4-5 years from blooming but nothing BS/NBS.

This is totally new to me...

That's wild, I've never seen that happen.

    Lc. Cynthia 'Model' AM/AOS, FCC/AOS

This is just the sort of plant that finally led me to develop an interest in Catts after mostly ignoring them for the last 30 years, I'm really enjoying the species, primaries, and historic plants.

    Paph Season 2023

Still getting a fliwer here and there, and I'm starting to see sheaths and spikes on winter bloomers. Hirohisa's Ruby is an impressive flower in person but I haven't figured out how to photograph it well. A first bloom haynaldianum from Orchid Inn breeding. Other than the split synsepal it's...

    Paph Season 2023

It's there but I expected it to be a 2-4 point defect rather than disqualifying. There's always next time.

    Paphiopedilum helenae 'Medusa' AM/AOS, CCM/AOS

Congrats! Stan was very impressed by this plant and told me all about it when I saw him after judging.

    Phrag. Growing Medium?

I don't grow many Phrags but the couple dozen I do have seem happy in the same rockwool and perlite mix I use for my Paphs. I keep their pots in 1020 flats that are drilled to hold roughly 1/4" of water so that they stay a bit wetter than my Paphs without being constantly soaked.

Paphiopedilum Maudiae 'The Queen' (Bankhaus) AM/AOS, FCC/AOS (?)

Awesome to see, I need to grab some of these historic clones for my collection.

    Paph Season 2023

My Raingreen's Sandi Hawk is blooming again, and made for a frustrating day at judging. There is one prior award to the grex, an 85 point AM. I sent this one up believing it should surpass the prior and the judges all seemed to agree, the commentary was unanimous that mine was superior to the...

    Paphiopedilum Yang-ji Hawk

All but a couple of the awards to Johanna Burkhardt are clearly WBW. Anitum and adductum are very different plants when grown side by side and breed differently as well, with anitum consistently producing better quality offspring. If they are lumped into one species then so should be lowii and...

Phal. Bronze Maiden- discussion about breeding

Phalaenopsis Bronze Maiden is a synonym, the original and valid registered name is Phalaenopsis Schillmann. It has one registered descendent, Phalaenopsis Bronze Beauty which is a cross to the complex pink Phalaenopsis Zada. For whatever reason the RHS has not updated the registration of Bronze...

    Wanted Paph violascens

Check with Dave at Paph Paradise, the website listing is sold out but he may have some still kicking around.
