    Difficulties locating AzaMax- substitutes?

Totally different control mechanism, but you might consider giving OrganiShield a try as a safe alternative. It is a new release of what used to be sold as SucraShield, which is a solution of sucrose octanoate esters that - rather than a toxin, per se - acts as a "super surfactant" to strip...

    RO filter water pressure.

Filter cartridges take no dissolved solids out of the water, only suspended solids (sediment), and the carbon cartridges are for chlorine and organic compounds. Was the 50 after installing the new stuff?

plant import permits freak me out

It's interesting that 621 refers to terrestrial plants. What are you considering importing?

    RO filter water pressure.

Well...Something ain't right. 721 only being reduced to 150 ppm suggests a defective system to me. 15 seems more reasonable, and even the LP membranes I used would be expected to reduce it to no more than about 50-60. It really seems that you've got "raw" water mixing with the permeate.

    RO filter water pressure.

Were the membranes left open or the systems allowed to dry before use? If so, they can degrade fairly rapidly. I have never seen nor heard of that poor of a reduction level in any system. It's not your water chemistry, and I still doubt it's pressure-related...

    No Shipping!

The tropical storm that just passed though dumped 22" of rain on us in 48 hours - 13+ yesterday alone. There are many road closures due to washouts, so while we're fine, high and dry, FedEX, UPS, and USPS are unable to access us at this time. I'm still packing orders, but they ain't goin'...

    RO filter water pressure.

In residental RO systems, there must be a flow restrictor in the flush water line, or there will be insufficient pressure to push the water through the membrane. The yellow boxes are the typical pairings of the various membranes and restrictors, bright green are the pairings that improve the...

    EC / ppm meters.

TDS meters are EC meters to which a "conversion factor" is applied. No matter how accurate the EC meter is, applying the correct factor is critical to getting a decent TDS estimate, and each solution requires its own conversion. Most conversion factors are based upon NaCl solutions, which...

    RO filter water pressure.

For the 25 years I was building and selling RO systems, I used standard residential membranes, not the more expensive industrial ones. With the residential membranes, within a reasonably broad range - typically 35-100 psi - pressure affects the ratio of permeate to brine volume, far more than...

    K-Lite-EA

I'm gonna give this stuff a ride and see if I can see any differences. ANyone else out there wanting to jump in, drop me an email.

Any ideas as to what this is?

HAH! No need for an apology. I was questioning my own calculations, while drinking my first cup of coffee this morning.

    K-Lite-EA

I think folks get unnecessarily hung up on "TDS". Plus, most so-called "TDS meters" give crap results anyway. I don't know what a 100 ppm N solution of this "EA" formula or the Dyna-Gro may be, but if you compare the MSU formulas with K-Lite, you get: MSUWW 19-4-23-2Ca 530 ppm...

Any ideas as to what this is?

    The stuff is 46%N, which is 460,000 ppm or mg/kg. If you're shooting for 100 ppm N, then that would be 1000g/4600= 0.217g x 3.785 = 0.822 g/gal.

I am not going to be able to do a side-by-side experiment, having duplicates of only two plants. After 50+ years of growing, I am pretty observant of changes, but considering I’m about a month from moving plants indoors for the winter, that possibility is out the window.

All of the discussions about fertilizer recently, especially Xavier's comments about growqers supplementing the MSURO with MSUWW periodically, has gotten me curious about paphs and nitrogen source. Comparing nitrogen in MSUWW with about 30% of the nitrogen being ammoniacal to MSURO and K-LIte...
