    Cattleya warneri ‘graue’

Yes, it’s a double sheath and grows and blooms like a warneri. The pseudobulbs are shorter and fatter than my labiatas.

    Cattleya Bow Bells 'Purity' FCC/AOS

It should do. I had the same thing happen to me three months ago with a trianae. It fell on the floor when I was watering it and broke a new growth clean off. It’s now produced a new lead and it encouraged an older growth to also sprout, so all was not lost!

Phrag Lovely Lynne 4n x sib blooming thread

Serge, I’ve extensive threads from a few years ago when I grew loads. Search for cyps in pots. This is all that is left from over 80 pots.

    Cattleya warneri ‘graue’

Thanks Leslie. It’s capable of some wonderful flowers when well grown. See naming error, it’s actually warneri ‘graue’, it’s received an SM/DOG

Terry, this seems to be the strongest seedling. It flowered last autumn with the largest bloom, just in 14cm across. I’ve decided to name it ‘KV’, after the parent it resembles, kovachii. This flower was on a first growth. This is the second growth and looks big. It’s in a larger aquatic pot to...

Guru, I did. It browned off at least a month ago.

    Cattleya warneri ‘graue’

A plant that I thought was not going to bloom this year has put up a lateish spike. More of the purpuratas and even a mossiae look like they’re doing the same. I just needed patience. Although the growths aren’t big for this clone it’s still managed five flowers on a single spike, It’s a...

    Spiranthes sinensis

    Very pretty!

    Disas

One of the things that I can now grow in the maritime climate of west Cornwall are disas, outside year round. With no frosts to speak of they’re straight forward. Just sit in trays of tap water and feed very occasionally. They sit with a couple of sarracenias that like the same conditions. I’m...

Terry, that figures with the lack of buffering available in RO water. I’m using tap water. We are lucky that it’s easily good enough for my plants.

Good to know Terry. I’m trying to avoid going down the pH route at present and keep things simple. Let’s see what happens for the rest of the growing season. Last year things sorted themselves put in the autumn and I did nothing special. Under my conditions, the phrags have a real growth spurt...

Phrag Lovely Lynne 4n x sib blooming thread

Thanks guys, I’ve tried most of these things. I’ve watered with Epsom salts once and used it in the foliar spray. Maybe it takes some time to show. I’ve also moved the plants back from the window as it’s getting sunnier. There has been some very slight fading on the odd leaf close to the window...

The first two photos show the first blooming clone from last autumn, now with a maturing growth and a sheath. The repot into aquatic pots from the large tray was successful and you can see active roots on the surface of the rockwool. The only issue I now have is the colour of the new growths...

A Trio Surprise!!! A Skinneri party, late Percivaliana and a Ménage de Tres Jenmanii

Wonderful blooms as usual, Leslie. My favourite is the jenmanii.

    Cattleya Fabia (1894) double sheath

Seems like quite a variable hybrid judging by the online photos. The best are stunning! Good luck.

    Sophronitis minicatt hybrid

Stunning. Maybe awardable on a larger plant?
