    Cattleya lueddemanniana coerulea

I do love the colors on this lip. I’ve always been fascinated with that neon lime for some odd reasons. Must have been a toy I had as a kid. Luedde’s perform extremely well for me under LED’s. One species I have loaded up on. great growing, looking forward to more blooms from your new space.

    C. Pearl Harbor ‘Orchidglade’ AM/ AOS

Usually a fall bloomer, but everything is off in the collection I believe due to the long cooler spring this year, which was peppered with a few stretches of warmer temps. This is one of my favorite cattleyas in the collection. It blooms on every lead. The nodes are close between leads and the...

    Pale yellowish leaves - why????

I agree. I rotate between the two sources with multiple brands to cover all the bases.

    Pale yellowish leaves - why????

In my experience orchid leaves will turn yellow: 1) watering with pure RO water. You should always cut RO water with something, never water by itself. Unless you are flushing the plant, even then do this rarely. 2) too much light and heat. If the RO system is new to your culture, I...

    Phragmipedium Ecuagenera Dream

Love the color and form. How do you have it potted? Great to see a phrag in bloom in the middle of summer! That’s a treat in itself.

    Cattleya José Martí 'Mother's Favorite'

We experienced a very cool spring in our region. The grow room experienced a very sharp warm up in April, then another cooling period in May. this might have triggered the fall bloomers. This is my second large white cattleya to bloom in the past week, Pearl Harbor is in bud and will bloom...

    Cattleya José Martí 'Mother's Favorite'

Seems compact compared to others, spacing between growths is reasonable and the growths so far have not been too long.. but I could also be growing it poorly. ‘The Best’ is also on my lists to keep an eye out for.

Cattleya purpurata var. carnea ‘Harford’ AM/AOS

This is a bit of a sad post for me. This plant was a gift last summer from my dear friend Gary Krause, one of the owners of The Little Greenhouse in Baltimore MD. Gary and I were generations apart but shared the same birthday, and something clicked between us. We chatted nearly every day by...

    Cattleya José Martí 'Mother's Favorite'

Cattleya Bob Betts × Cattleya Bow Bells Acquired at an NCOS auction by a friend. I was gifted a division in 2016. This was repotted in March of 2022 in a net pot with grodan and #4 perlite. I’ve moved away from this mix for cattleyas and have returned to a kiwi bark base with less grodan. But...

Cattleya trianae alba 'BK × Cattleya trianae alba 'Grezaffi’

Yes, long time. 3 leads and could probably split into 3 plants. All led lights now I need to update my post… Thread 'Evaporative Cooler for Basement Grow room' Evaporative Cooler for Basement Grow room I’ve added a spider farmer led and another led. But this plant was specifically grown under...

Cattleya trianae alba 'BK × Cattleya trianae alba 'Grezaffi’

Petals are not full enough for me, too many windows and seems to have the bat shape.. I don’t mind it so much but compared to other blooms.. would rather give the limited table space to a superior form and hand this off to an another grower or who appreciates it more.

Cattleya trianae alba 'BK × Cattleya trianae alba 'Grezaffi’

This seedling was purchased from Carter and Holmes in the fall of 2017, and this is its first bloom. Not the biggest fan of the form and I plan to move it out of the collection. Before I do, I wanted a record of the blooms since I put the 5 years in ;) This is the first trianae I have ever bloomed.

Nepenthes are a slippery slope, that WIRED article late last year was eye opening. I had no clue people were crazy for them.

    Normans Orchids / Orchids.com Order

Hit or miss has also been my experience. From time to time they stock variety that no other vendors seem to be able to source in the US. I’ve purchased a few cattleyas and phals from them over the years and one order will be healthy, well grown. Other orders are near death. My thought is if...

Thanks for sharing. Glad the second flower was improved. Very strange indeed, I’ve never seen this bud / bloom delay before.

Welcome, I’ve got a few group chat aroid friends in the bmore / dc area that buy a LOT of orchids from your online offerings. I’ve been encouraging their interest in orchids.. have yet to get one to step foot in a society meeting. Getting close. It’s hard to say where the hobby industry is...
