Leslie, what a quick developement from bud to flower .... seems it was because you were absent and travelling .... the plants could do what they like the best. I'm not so sure.... the other two are also stunning.

Not really, he/she can be both .... one time within all these years he/she flowered as a SHE with female flowers in June 2015. But, please don't ask me what was the trigger for this occurrence, because I really don't know it. Have a look.

I think, the stunning flower in the first photo shows the real potetial of this plant. So far the plant seems to stay more compact than other L. purpuratas. The plant will show you in the future if both matters come true ...
