At first sight it seems to me that it looks more like the hybrid Cattleya Green Emerald

A complex hybrid of a dotted Cattleya. Its name refers to one of the hills that surround Rio de Janeiro. Origin of this plant : Floralia Niterói Brazil.

Are the Peters : Ca : Mg ratios expressed in weight and not in volume? Are the two salts used to provide Ca and Mg in effect Calcium Nitrate and Magnesium Sulphate respectively?

I use imidacloprid two times/years : in spring when the température increase and just before winter in order to protect the plants during this period of the year.

I have always used 0.3 ml/L imidachloprid 60% added in my fertilyser solution. 0.5 ml/L in case of severe attacks. Here in Belgium the sale of insecticides based on neonicotinoids is forbidden.... a big problem for the friends of orchids !

@ Ray Several times you mentioned that the Huntington Botanical Gardens used calcium nitrate as a fertilizer. I would be curious to know what source of magnesium their plants use to make chlorophyll. Do they use tap water ?

I have the same issue on a Paph. hirsutissimum. I treated with a maceration of powdered cinnamon in iso-propyl alcohol. I wait and see....

I would say between 6.5 and 7. If, despite the addition of basic substances, you notice that the pH remains acidic (typically 5.6 or lower) , I advise you to repot in a fresh substrate. Your substrat is too decayed.

Materials that contain Calcium such as dolomite, crushed shells, coral ... should not be considered as sources of Calcium but rather as neutralizing agent of the the substrate acidity which develops with the aging of the substrate.
