    Ebay ..Ugghh

Are you referring to the new marketplace or FB groups that have been created for selling plants? I am on FB but not an expert- I did not know you could have groups dedicated to selling (I would have expected FB to route all that to some kind of fee-driven platform.)

    Paphiopedilum rothschildianum from Denver

Well done! Those look great! In the end, I only ended up with seedlings on for myself due to limited space, but to echo what NYEric said- they are all doing very nicely. Denver has a serious talent for this hobby.

    Ebay ..Ugghh

I was chuckling at Ed's reply, because I am one of those former sellers who would argue that things got harder for us. But your point is well taken Ray. At the end of the day, the eBay business model is problematic because it has morphed into the company being presented as a general...

    Ebay ..Ugghh

From 1998 until about 2012, I sold on eBay all the time and in all kinds of categories. That has gradually dwindled to near nothing. They actively promote a retail type experience where all sellers are expected to function as though we are full time businesses with sophisticated order...

    Paph adductum x stonei

That is one awesome dorsal for sure. Great plant Troy.

Anitum x Wossner Black Wings flask

I did some nosing around, but I cannot find any photos of this cross in flower. That said, this is the kind of cross I would expect most breeders to keep close to the vest early on- so there may well be flowered populations out there. To echo what the others have said, I would say go for it...

    Philadelphia Flower Show

Almost 10 years ago, I was part of an organization that was supporting a big charity do in NYC- not orchid related. I came early to help out as things were being set up. At one point, the person heading up the volunteers asked a couple of us to move two step repeat banners on the red carpet...

The Coryopedilum Chronicles VIII - 9 month status review + a look at deflasking shock

Paph praestans – 6 month progress report As with the platyphyllum, these continue to flourish and grow quite rapidly. As noted last time, I thought these might need to be thinned out into 3-4 compots, and I plan to do that this week. These were potted with most of the agar removed without...

The Coryopedilum Chronicles VIII - 9 month status review + a look at deflasking shock

Paphiopedilum adductum v. anitum, plus one new flask added last week As noted last time, these are finally stabilized after doing poorly for 5 months under the excessive light in my original setup. I noted they were growing very slowly, and indeed they are, but not as slowly as I...

The Coryopedilum Chronicles VIII - 9 month status review + a look at deflasking shock

The Coryopedilum Chronicles VIII – Nine month status review This Chronicle documents the status of two flasks each of Paphiopedilum sanderianum, rothschildianum, platyphyllum, adductum v. anitum and randsii nine months after they were deflasked and placed into compots. In Chronicles VIII...

    anitum in bud

Thank you. Good to know. I will just try calling this time. That is a pricey plant, but it could be very worthwhile just in case it blooms out above average.

    MK in bud

That is a stunning plant. Magnificent outcome.

2018 GNTOS (Dallas, TX) Spring Show and Sale- March 9-10

Hey all, Since no one else has noted it, I wanted to post that there is a show next weekend for the Greater North Texas Orchid Society here in Dallas. Show is listed as March 9-10, but from the schedule it looks like Saturday the 10th is the only day it is open to the public. Here are details...

    Ebay Paphs

Troy still has 10 flasks of that exact sib cross for $40 each if you want to share one. Happy to do a share there- and I can take risk of growing it out a couple of months etc. and then share at actual costs+$5 fee per compot (potting, mix, labels etc.) Assuming 2 compots from 1 flask, that...

    anitum in bud

I am very interested in that plant, but the two times I contacted that vendor to ask about plants on the website, I never got a reply. So I am not going there unless some of you have good things to say. Is this a good vendor and someone reliable? Looks like they will be at the Dallas show next...

    Total steal of a deal

Original in the sense of the specific cross from which the seller claims to have sourced this particular plant. The seller's comment along with the "never released" comment implies that he is selling one of 3 plants in existence, which is wrong. The commercial ID tag is also an indication...

    Total steal of a deal

What bothers me most are the obvious lies in this listing- only 3 plants from original seed pod and never released. Ha! Never released- wrong. Only 3 plants from original seed pod and yet this person owns a plant with a mass produced printed plant tag. The cross was registered in 2013. If you...

I love that dorsal. Could make for some interesting hybrids.
