    Paph. Lady Isabel

I thought it was the opposite. Mistakenly registered as Isabel but the daughter it was named after was Isobel. So it has been now corrected.

    Paph. Lady Isabel

Possibly the same cross as mine - stonei 'Wide Wings' x rothschildianum 'King Kong'. Mine are growing well, but nowhere near flowering size yet. I have only been growing them for 2 or 3 years.

That's an incredible clone. The sepals look enormous. What is the cross? I also have a Lady Isobel flask from Sam I am growing out.

Paph Delrosi 'Bessie' HCC/AOS and Delrosi 'Florafest' AM/AOC

Thanks Stephen. Those flowers match up with mine. I got my clone off the same person who sold me my Bel Royal (Possybaby). So Jim flowered 2 spikes of 3 flowers each.

WOW. 4 flowers. I don't think I have ever seen 4 flowers on such a hybrid.

Paph Delrosi 'Bessie' HCC/AOS and Delrosi 'Florafest' AM/AOC

Thanks Murray. I will correct my label. It was sold to me as an AM/AOC awarded plant. I got this clone in 2011. It has grown fairly well for me, as you can see it is in a pretty large clump now. Flowers sporadically though. I was looking closely at the plant this morning and noticed another...

Paph Delrosi 'Bessie' HCC/AOS and Delrosi 'Florafest' AM/AOC

Looking at the flowers more closely, the 'Florafest' clone has the better flower. It has a larger, rounder and flatter dorsal. It deserves its higher award.

Paph Delrosi 'Bessie' HCC/AOS and Delrosi 'Florafest' AM/AOC

Thanks. No, I bought both of these as divisions. The 'Bessie' clone is a US awarded plant. So, someone has gone to all the trouble of importing it into Australia at some point.

It is rare for me to flower one of these, let alone two at once. In fact, I bought the 'Bessie' clone in 2010, flowered it in 2012 and it hasn't flowered since until now. Pretty similar looking flowers. Paph Delrosi 'Bessie' HCC/AOS Paph Delrosi 'Florafest' AM/AOC

    Paph St Swithin

A lot of the early St Swithin's in Australia seemed to have very horizontal petals. There were some fantastic clones, one getting an FCC (Sunnybank). But the recent breeding is more focused on getting longer petals which ensures more pendulous petals. It would defy physics for petals this long...

    Paph St Swithin

Thanks for the detailed response. You are right. The bar is pretty high to get an award for a St Swithin. There have been nearly 70 awarded here in Australia as well. This plant won Reserve Champion at our show a few years back, despite the flowers being way past their best. The judges told me...

    Paph St Swithin

I don't disagree with you. I am partial to more horizontal petals myself. But if I entered both clones into a show, I am pretty sure the judges would favour this one. The flowers are much bigger in size. If I can get some more flowers on this clone, I think I will put it up for an award. But...

    Paph St Swithin

Probably my best St Swithin. Paph St Swithin (phillipinense 'TN-7' x rothschildianum 'TN-Lion')

    My Polyanthas in 2023

Nice one Rudolf. My praestans is almost open now as well and I am on the other side of the planet. :)

    Paphiopedilum helenae 'Medusa' AM/AOS, CCM/AOS

Congratulations on the well-deserved awards. Absolutely stunning. Not a species I have found that easy to grow. You obviously have the culture down pat.

    Paphiopedilum Wossner Ministar 'Brian' HCC/AOS

C0ngratulations. Such a lovely flower. One of my first awarded Paphs was this cross. It was not a strong plant and it sadly died not long after it was awarded. What was worse, I named the clone in memory of my grandfather. Looks like you will have no such problem. A nice healthy clump you have.

Paph Tiny Leopard 'Deerwood Too' AM/AOS

That is just wonderful. Congratulations on the well-deserved award. It would be nice to see a photo of the awarded flower when you get a chance.

    Paph Hsinying Anita

That is wonderful Stephen. Love the contrasting tones. Nice presentation too. Is it a good size?

    Orchids 2023

Just fantastic Justin. The first photo certainly shows off its aesthetic value, the second photo not so much. This species is all about the petals. 🙂

    Paphiopedilum Mrs. Reginald Young

I got it off Brad in 2017. He did get a lot of flasks from Sam around that time. I can't recall ever seeing this cross on one of Sam's lists. I wouldn't expect it would be a cross he would do.
