    Paphiopedilum Mrs. Reginald Young

It is hard to see the dorsal and petal stance improving. I think it is what it is. But I will give it another go. :) Screaming Eagle (Berenice x sanderianum) was a much more popular long-petalled lowii cross. It was all the rage many years back, but I haven't seen anyone post a photo of one for...

    Paphiopedilum Mrs. Reginald Young

This is probably the best clone of this cross I have seen. But most wouldn't be this good. https://www.orchids.org/grexes/paphiopedilum-mrs-reginald-young I don't mind my plant. It certainly has some nice traits. For a small plant, it is a good flowering. The dorsal is very narrow, just like...

    Paphiopedilum Mrs. Reginald Young

Good Mrs. Reginald Young clones have longer petals. This is just not a good one. You do get variation in these things. Size is not a fixed trait. Same with petal stance. Many sanderianum hybrids have a similar broad petal stance. My awarded PEOY that I recently posted has very broad shoulders...

    Paphiopedilum Oberhausen's Rubin

    Yes, the same flower.

    Paphiopedilum Mrs. Reginald Young

I don't know what you mean by the 'award'. It clearly has lowii and sanderianum in it.

    Paphiopedilum Mrs. Reginald Young

The label on this plant is Paph Formosa Lady (Susan Booth 'Red' x sanderianum 'Sam Tsui') but clearly it is not that. I am pretty confident it is lowii x sanderianum. The ovary is white. The person I bought it off said he never ever bought this cross, so it is a bit of a mystery. Not sure if one...

    Orchids 2023

For some reason I don't seem to be able to see the sanderianum photos.

Miltoniopsis Andrea West 'Harford's Wei' HCC/AOS

I love the Pansy Orchids, I grew a lot of them at one stage but had a bit of a disaster and lost them all. I recently bought a few more, so I am having a second attempt. The hot summers are my biggest problem.

    Paphiopedilum Oberhausen's Rubin

I will try and remember to take a photo tomorrow. Just a reference to the same thing happening when praestans/wilheminiae was crossed with rothschildianum. Before wilheminiae was separated into a separate species, they were all Susan Booth's. In fact, I have a Paph William Ambler that was...

    Paphiopedilum Oberhausen's Rubin

This one is very compact, so doesn't take up a lot of space. It does have its flaws, but the twisted petals are pretty special. When I take it into our monthly orchid meetings, everyone drools over it, even the judges. So maybe I will save a little space for this one for now. :)

    DEGARMOARA PINOT PRINCESS 'SCARY'

Thanks for the correction. I am not really up to date with the taxonomy of this group, so I just put what was on the label. The nurseries here are slow to change.

    DEGARMOARA PINOT PRINCESS 'SCARY'

I have recently got into these Brassia inter-generic hybrids. This is one of the better ones. The flowers are very big, about the size of my hand, incredibly dark and held on a very thick erect spike. DEGARMOARA PINOT PRINCESS 'SCARY'

Susan Booth / William Ambler all over again.

    Paphiopedilum Oberhausen's Rubin

Third time I have flowered it and first time I have got 3 flowers. It is a very slow grower. Orchid Zone breeding. The petals are 27 cm in length. Paph Oberhausen's Rubin (sanderianum 'Ray' x wilhelminiae 'Black Magic')

    Bubble Wrap Greenhouse Insulation

I just drilled holes through the aluminum frame and used washers and bolts to keep the bubblewrap in place (see below). The bubblewrap has been in place around 10 years and still going strong. I highly recommend it myself. This, combined with the 10mm polycarbonate panels has saved me a lot of...

    Bubble Wrap Greenhouse Insulation

Yes, I use greenhouse bubble wrap on the inside of my greenhouse. The winter temperatures can get well below freezing where I live, so the bubble wrap is a great way of increasing the insulation.

    Paph Susan Booth 'Paracombe' FCC/AOC

Looks fantastic. Five flowers is impressive growing. I think you got 5 flowers last time. The original owner told me he never got 5 flowers on a spike, unlike his 'Highercombe' clone. I got 5 flowers once. Looks like my plants are having a year off.

    Paphiopedilum helenae fm. aureum *****

Thanks Chris. It has all paid off. Do you have future plans with this line of breeding? Smaller leaves?
