Thanks, Tom! I’ll check them out.

Paph Barbara Larkin in bud, crossing fingers

Blooming continues. The pouches are all a bit asymmetrical. Curious if that is due to cultural issues or ?

first ever flask, Paphiopedilum fairrieanum question

Looking forward to seeing the blooms! Don’t know how many survived from your flask, but I’d be interested in purchasing some from you if you decide to part with any. Also, I haven’t seen those deep clear pots before. Do you mind sharing the source? Those roots look great!

    Paphiopedilum fairrieanum family

Gorgeous collection, Darlene. When you get a chance I’d love to hear any tips on growing fairrieanum that you can share. The foliage on yours is healthy and dark green. The foliage on mine always appears a bit anemic. Frankly, even the foliage on the ones I’ve purchased from great growers has...

Phrag Silver Eagle ‘Angel Wings’ AM/AOS

Did you purchase Silver Eagle ‘Pink Satin’? I saw that on her most recent list. I purchased it last year and posted a photo of it here in August. It’s a beauty in its own right.

    Wanted Phrag. humboldtii

I’m assuming you checked with Marilyn (Windy Hill)? I didn’t see any on her most recent list but she usually has items in small quantities that she doesn’t list.

    Paph Bryce Larkin

Hi Mike, Do you still have this? It’s gorgeous. Looks like they used the same Fumi’s Delight that was used in the Barbara Larkin that I have.

Paph Barbara Larkin in bud, crossing fingers

I have a small armeniacum division I purchased from tenman last year. I lost one of the two growths almost immediately but the remaining is putting out new growth. I suspect it will be a while before I see blooms on it.

Well, it did it! Bloomed after blasting four years in a row. A little asymmetrical but we’ll see how the next blooms look.

Leaving a thirsty phrag for a week

I put the lid on. My plants are indoors and grown under lights, but when I put in containers I leave them in a room away from light. I believe whoever gave the suggestion recommended giving the plants a day or so to dry after watering so they weren’t too wet when sealed up, and that made sense...

Leaving a thirsty phrag for a week

I follow the advice of someone on this site who posted about creating a mini- greenhouse. For all but my largest phrags I water 1-2 days before leaving and then on the day I leave I put them in large/tall plastic totes (40 qt for the small plants, 72 qt for the larger). I’ve done this twice and...

Phrag Silver Eagle ‘Angel Wings’ AM/AOS

It may be a while given its size but you are first in line.🙂

Phrag Silver Eagle ‘Angel Wings’ AM/AOS

Which phrag do you consider the whitest? I guess I should have clarified that I was thinking of long-petaled when I made my remark. I have a Polar Shift ‘Ghostwriter’ and a ‘Shoshone River’ from Bob that seem to be doing well but they are on the small side and haven’t bloomed yet. I’m curious...

    Thermostatically controlled heating mats

This is from Dave’s/PaphParadise’s site: Paph hookerae is from a tropical region and is found at fairly low elevation. Temperatures are consistently warm year-round, seldom falling below 65 F. They receive over 100″ of rain annually, so the plants never dry out. We have had great success with...

    Thermostatically controlled heating mats

I use them for brachys and hookerae. I believe I read somewhere that one of the nurseries (Paph Paradise?) uses them to keep their roots from staying too cold/wet and rotting. All of my brachys have done well with this method, so I continue to use it. All of my orchids are in my house office...

Phrag Silver Eagle ‘Angel Wings’ AM/AOS

The most recent bloom has barely a hint of pink- it’s as close to white as I’ve seen a phrag.

Paph Barbara Larkin in bud, crossing fingers

I purchased this from Happypaphy7 last year. It has a four year history of budding but blasting. Crossing fingers that we’re past that stage this year. It’s from Windy Hill so I’m anxious to see what it looks like. I was gone for a week on vacation but it’s not showing to be any worse for the...

    Paph richardianum

First bloom. I don’t see photos of this species posted on here very often. I wasn’t expecting the flowers to be as small as they are, but it’s a nice-sized multi-floral.

Phrag Silver Eagle ‘Angel Wings’ AM/AOS

    Possibly. I purchased this spring.
