    Blooming brachys

Good to know. I’ll have to get better at making them shorter and more discreet.

    Blooming brachys

The first of my small brachy collection are beginning to bloom. The one with two blooms came from Darlene last year: Paph godefroyae. The other two are from Krull-Smith: Paph Jim Krull which are Jennifer Reinoso (one is ‘Black Knight’ the other ‘Frank’s cup of tea’) x leuchochilum ‘Jordan...

First Compot- Paph fairrieanum album- Next steps?

This is my first compot. I purchased it from PaphParadise several months ago because I’d unsuccessfully been on the hunt for a fairrieanum album for some time, so I decided to give it a try. I potted up about 12 small seedlings today. I have about 8 plus “runts” that I think are too small to...

Rust colored sticky substance with dieback

Thanks! You are correct. I wasn’t expecting mites since no signs of webbing but that appears to be what it is. Looks a little different on orchids than when I’ve seen it on other houseplants.

Rust colored sticky substance with dieback

Hoping someone can help me diagnose this. I noticed that one of my fairrieanums had lost its new growth which was rather rusty colored. I noticed that a couple of my other fairrieanums were beginning to develop rust colored edges on the leaves. Just repotted them and roots all look great...

    Paphiopedilum hookerae

That would have been very painful!!! I’m guessing quite a book could be written on what not to do based on all of our experiences.

    Phragmipedium Ruth Morrow

    Very impressive!

    Phragmipedium Bubblegum ‘Windy Hill’

It’s really sweet. One of my favorite Phrags to-date. The flowers have even more of a soft raspberry pink cast than I’m able to capture with my phone.

    Paphiopedilum hookerae

Any suggestions on when I should repot now that it has bloomed? Would it be best to wait until it starts pushing new growth?

    Paphiopedilum hookerae

Thanks, Justin. I purchased this from Dave/Paph Paradise last year and he noted that it could be challenging for beginners so of course I had to try it. But he also said that this batch were vigorous growers so I’m guessing my luck was due to that. He also mentioned growing it on a seedling...

    Phragmipedium Noirmont ‘Crimson King’

I’m not sure. I purchased this from Marilyn at Windy Hill last year - she could certainly say.

    Phragmipedium Bubblegum ‘Windy Hill’

I was about to say ‘No’ but I stuck my nose next to the bloom and it does have a bit of a smell, but I wouldn’t consider it a particularly pleasant fragrance 🙂.
