    Phrag. kovachii 'Littlefrog Magenta Princess'

Hi David, Of course! (Although no memoria) I see that Peruflora registered that cross in 2015. I have not seen one myself, but that definitely sounds like what I am looking for. Best, Kate. Maybe if we all ask nicely, Chuck will make some for us.:-)

    Cattleya trianae pelorica trilabelo

Just the right amount of peloric-ness for my tastes. I'm with David, pelorics are not necessarily my favorite, primarily because the petal shape gets so contorted in many. It's kind of hard to tell from your photos, without more of a side-angle or angles, but it seems that your petals have...

    tigrinum seedlings

Hi Mike, Since you are experimenting . . . I grow nearly all of my flasklings in sphagnum to begin with (all, except when I am experimenting with something else). For Paphs, I have started to move them up to the Marilyn LeDoux mix recipe that was published by the Slipper Alliance (with slight...

    Phrag. kovachii 'Littlefrog Magenta Princess'

Hi Mike, Yes, I did pick up one of those and, I agree, that something nice with fischerii in it seems like a good candidate. Mine are little still. I have one Samuel Crothers that is, well, disappointing. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing a good one of those crossed back to kovachii. Best, Kate

    New roth plant!

Old washers are the best! Of course, a new budding Roth is even better!!!

    Phrag. kovachii 'Littlefrog Magenta Princess'

I agree. Seems they all go pink, some very nice pinks of course, but not purple. I have picked up a few flasks of Apollo and some other hybrids with >50% kovachii, and only have bloomed out a few so far. But, pinks, not purples, so far . . .

Brassavola nodosa ‘Mas Mejor’ am/aos bud

Good looking roots Charles! Don’t be afraid to give it a lot of light. My favorite part about these is how their scent comes out in the dark. It’s quite striking.

    Phrag Darlene Thompson

Wow! I hope my Darlenes turn out that nice! Does it have those lovely spots inside the pouch that some of the other Darlenes have?

    Bud blast in phrags

Hi David, Sorry to hear that - I consider your culture to be outstanding. I am with you on the next steps. I would cut the spikes and check under the hood (examine the roots). Good luck. Kate

    Experiment

I use the AG10 dolomite, but I tend to use it as a top dressing along with some oyster shells. When I put it directly in my mix, too much ended up in the bottom of the 5-gal buckets I use to store my mixes. If Dr. Clement used the powder, it was probably the AG65. Here is a short paper on the...

    Hello from London

Aloha Daniel, I have (quite) a few phrags here in Honolulu, Hawaii, as well as a number of other orchid genera. One of the things I like about phrags is that they mature and bloom a lot fast than many of the paphs (an over-generalization, of course). I would recommend starting with hybrids...

    Phragmipedium Acker’s Candy

This is one of my favorite first-bloom seedlings of late. Most of this cross (Twilight x Inca Rose) bloomed out paler, kind of washed-out pinkish-red. The shape is a bit warbly, but the raspberry-red petals are rimmed with a deep red that is also reflected in the pouch. I am going to mark it...

    Phrag besseae 'Carlisle' x self

    Nice form and well grown!

    Micranthum season has started

They are both beautiful! I am still trying to just not kill them off. Well done!

    Phrag. caudanum

Look at all those blooms!!! Woohoo!

    Phrag. caudanum

A moot point if you are going to dump it, but I suspect the label once said Phrag. caudatum v. sanderae.

Phrag. besseae fma flavum 'Green Gold' HCC/AOS

    Very impressive, Tom!

    Phragmipedium Don Wimber 'D&B' AM/AOS

Hi Paul, I tuned in to a talk he gave to the Hilo Orchid Society, which was mostly on Neofinetia falcatas, and he did not mention it. The house next door to me is sold, but there are plenty more. Come on down!

    Phragmipedium Don Wimber 'D&B' AM/AOS

Hi Rich, Those are from Chuck Acker, deflasked on or about June 22, 2018. Most of my batch have bloomed before, but I would not say they are fully mature yet. The Grex # is CA657 and the parents are Eric Young ‘Rocket Fire’ x besseae var. flavum ‘Rob’. Chuck predicted that the flower size and...

    Phragmipedium Don Wimber 'D&B' AM/AOS

I love Don Wimbers! Yours is spectacular Darlene!! (I think I have a div of this from Bill, but no flowers yet. I have to check, lol.) I have 4 DW seedlings in bloom, here are 3 of them.
