    Fumimasu Sugiyama unfortunately passed away

The well-known Japanese Fumimasu Sugiyama breeder of many slipper hybrids has unfortunately passed May 23rd . His crosses will always remind us of this great man. Our sympathy goes out to his family. I think Fumi enjoyed his orchid life and lived out his life span. It is so sad we lost Norito...

    Phrag ecuadorence 'Si'

Congratulations for your culture. But the plant is a typical Phrag. pearcei. The name ecuadorense is only a synonym. You will not find any differences between ths o described ecuadorense and the typical pearce in the description. The name was used sometimes for good clones of pearcei but also...

    New Book about Paphiopedilum

It is really hard to find a publisher who will publish such a comprehensive work. It is even harder to find a good translator and a publisher who will produce and distribute such a book in the US. With my book on the genus Phragmipedium, which is now almost sold out in its second edition, I have...

Unusual new Selenipedium or new genus?a

You could find it also in the book of Phillip Cribb and also in my book about Phragmipedium and Selenipedium. It is a Selenipedium without a shoe, like the Phragmipedium lindenii is a Phrag. also without a shoe and not a Uropedium.

    Paph amabile 'Charles' AM xself

It is really difficult here with the used names. There were mixed many names in the literature, the collections and also in trade. It is clear that Paph. amabile is only a synonym of Paph. bullenianum. But very often these plants were sold as amabile. As difference was seen the staminode. But...
