    H2O2 flasking

I have attached some correspondence off the old Hybridizers Forum. Check out Orkid's post. 3% all the way!

    H2O2 flasking

I used it last year to sterilize a green pod. I have used it before on seed as well and it worked well. 10 to 15 min in 3% H2O2 if memory serves. I have sadly misplaced my note book so I cant tell you how much I used for seed but I used that concentration for a green pod last year.

    Paph. Jessie

It's nice. Self it to play the lottery to win a plant where the alba genes of both are in the same plant.

Are there mini/compact white Cattleya hybrids?

I checked out Fred's list the moment the thought for this thread entered my mind. I think the problem here is that just because the different species have different "alba genes" and outcrossing can result in the dominant "color-genes" to be expressed again. Catts don't seem to behave like Paphs...

    Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana (Aurora x Leyte)

Do you get many keikis forming?

Are there mini/compact white Cattleya hybrids?

3 feet is almost as tall as the last Catt. Portia I saw on show some years back. I would love such BIG plants but don't have the space... hence my interest in mini/compact white Catts. CATTLEYA JOSE MARTI looks like a good candidate to try -- at the very least it available. This looks like a...

Are there mini/compact white Cattleya hybrids?

Anyone know the name for that mini Bob Betts and intermedia hybrids?

Are there mini/compact white Cattleya hybrids?

The flurry of Catt photos has got me curious: are there white mini-Catt or compact-Catt hybrids? I am aware of mini alba types of loddigesii and walkeri but no little white Catt hybrids that look like Cow Bells, Bob Betts etc... Are there any? If not, why has no one bothered to try create...

    Adam Hauserman x Winston Churchill

I got this from Hauserman's a while back. This is its first flowering. It is big and cupped but the color is nice. The pouch is deformed but the dorsal seal is very flat. I hope for a better flowering next year. Merry Christmas

Paph. ‘Donna Hanes’ x ‘Yerba Nueva’ What’s happened here?

Oddly, I have a first bloom complex with the same pouch deformity. No idea why.

    New roots drying out

Since someone was kind enough to resurrect this thread from the dead I may as well ask a question. Ray, if the issue is mineral precipitation, how do you feel about removing the top layer of medium and replacing it? The plants don't like being repotted but the top layer could be removed without...

    Paphiopedilum White Lady

Convergent evolution. The breeders have been breeding for the same thing: white, round flowers with little pigmentation and spotting. Overlap is to be expected. Hi similarity between individuals of different grexes among Maudiae type hybrids would be no surprise, we just expect complex Paphs to...

Paph In-Charm Topaz (Lisa x Davelle)

In the morning sun: Nice, warm, butterscotch yellows. The pouch is now kind of pinkish.
  15. TyroneGenade

    Decision time

It's colorful, not hideously deformed and blooms regularly. Keep it until you find something better.

Paph In-Charm Topaz (Lisa x Davelle)

It is very pleasing to have so many nice flowers in a small pot. Yay tea cup Paphs! The one on the left is older and more yellow. The one on the right is newer and greener. They are the same clone. Behind them is a sibling: It is smaller and just opening up. Its form is much better this year...

A favor request to my Slippertalk friends

The moisture is the H2O2 spray. One pot is a mix of sphagnum and perlite and the other is calcined clay (Safety-Sorb) which is something of a fine grade LECA for semi-hydroponics. I was forced to deflask some seedlings prematurely a while back and decided to put them in the Safety-Sorb and they...

A favor request to my Slippertalk friends

My flask arrived yesterday. The plants weren't in too bad a shape. One of the seedlings was brown and dead and there was some browning to leaves on others. I pulled these leaves off and gave a little spray with H2O2. Hoping for the best. A few of the seedlings were huge -- as large as the Paph...
