Where do we go with legal imports?

    A heart-wrecking sight,....most deepfelt commiserations, Istvan!

    Paphiopedilum glanduliferum at Show

Might we have a peak? 🙂

    Paphiopedilum glanduliferum at Show

By second thought: "The owls are [definately] not what they seem..." Both David and Tony are right. Chuck it!

    Paphiopedilum glanduliferum at Show

Hear, hear! And there has never been a glanduliferum with a staminode like a wilhelminae (only back when the two species weren't yet clearly separated!).... P. Shin-Yi Williams x wilhelminae? Might we get a few close-ups of the staminode, including one from the side?

    Paphiopedilum fairrieanum 'Ellis's Emeralds' CCM/AOS

Neither do I? At least I never meant to cause upset! I always have very nice exchanges with Darlene, and I hope the turn things took, didn't spoil her feeling about the thread or her wonderful flowers!

    Paphiopedilum fairrieanum 'Ellis's Emeralds' CCM/AOS

    Oh, I did...and a quack is a quack is a quack.... 😁

    Paphiopedilum haynaldianum

As said earlier, I'm glad I won't have to choose between the two clones.....but hard pressed for an answer, my respond would be: both! If pressured further, I would take recourse to the wise words of Mae West: "Too much of a good thing, can be ... wonderful"!

    Paphiopedilum fairrieanum 'Ellis's Emeralds' CCM/AOS

The fact, that the plant doesn't correspond to the botanical description of fma. bohlmannianum (the albino form of fairrieanum), does not the least detract from the beauty of the flowers and the incredible cultural skills of Darlene! Thus, why bother conceal, what's unconcealable? And as Darlene...

    Paphiopedilum haynaldianum

Both gorgeous...both keepers. Each in their way! Stephen, that, I think, could be debatable...and depend on which part of the flower, you decide to focus on: #1 has a deeper, more saturated colour of the slipper, but if you prefer a more uniform colour of said flower segment, you may prefer to...

    Paph. Lady Isabel

Judging from both sepals, it wouldn't be surprising if it got some King Kong-blood in its veins! Splendiferous! Lady Isobel was a formidable lady, who in the orchid world suffered a demeaning misspelling for 100 years, untill Nick righted the wrong (see link in DirGo's post above). And as a...

    Cattleya Amethystoglossa x Peckaviensis

The genetic lottery moves in mysterious ways! Both nice flowers! 🙂

    Cattleya trianae coerulea

Lovely colours, though! Hear, hear...maybe you've found a new home for your plant, papheteer?

    Paphiopedilum fairrieanum 'Ellis's Emeralds' CCM/AOS

Lovely... and SO well grown, Darlene. Kudos for culture! Best regards, Jens

Indeed it is a cutie... your very nice, li'l teacup-Paph!

    Phalaenopsis violacea Indigo

Ah, ih, ah, oh! 😍 🥰

    Cattleya percivalliana albescens ‘Oro blanco’

As Olaf (ORG) is one of those arguing very convincing about albinism in Paphiopedilum and the more exclusive use of the term 'album', maybe you could ask him, what he thinks of the matter within the genus Cattleya?
  17. Guldal

    Cattleya percivalliana albescens ‘Oro blanco’

I know, Leslie...but I wonder, whether this holds true in a strict botanical sense? This would demand that these yellow-throated albino forms of the plant have been described and published validly as alba forms in accordance with the ICBN (International Code of Botanical Nomenclatura)...
  18. Guldal

    Cattleya percivalliana albescens ‘Oro blanco’

Another caveat: if we follow the strict nomenclatura propagated by some eminent botanists within Paphiopedilum (Gruß, Braem), it can NEVER bloom completely alba - as this term in botany is exclusively reserved for plants that blooms without any colour pigmentation, i.e. with completely and all...

    Paphiopedilum henryanum

Any henry flowering is a wonderful sight! 🥰

    Cattleya cernua

Darlene, the colour of the flowers of your plant is remarkably good! Well done!
