Paphiopedilum philipenense x Johanna Burkhardt on deck

this is one and the other was similar... maybe blaming it only on dorsal was a bit overstated.. just wasn't a bench space investment i wanted to continue (Paph Phillip's Song from Lehua)

Paphiopedilum philipenense x Johanna Burkhardt on deck

Only thing I’d be questioning would be if the dorsal could perform better …. Either as a result of different culture (whatever magic it needs) or just plant size. I like the general form and color of All the segments…. I gave away 2 out of 3 of a similar cross from Graham…. For exactly...

    Difficulties locating AzaMax- substitutes?

there are other brands of the same chemical (azadirachtin) in either the same concentration as azamax or other variations.. but you may need to buy a lot to get a decent cost point... Azapro (1.2%) Azaguard (3%) Azasol - (6% instead 1.2%) - comes in a powder form with typically longer...

Advice for Resurrecting an Orchid Society Library From Cold storage

Sepos liquidated our library 10 or so years ago when we left the last venue with a permanent closet where it was setup like a library (ya, it was a big closet). I understand the perceived value, but if you are offering it as a product to your membership, consider who will both value it AND...

    Phragmipedium wallisii

For me. Remembering these is simple now. If it’s green like yours. Then warszewiczianum If it has some color more than green. Is it big? Then caudatum If not humboldtii No pouch lindenii

Wanted Paph. charlesworthii and Paph. fairrieanum

Tom also check out SVO for fairreanum. Fred is line breeding them. so although they may not be cutting edge quality as Theresa's, they grow well and flower well... and i'll second Tim for charlies' he has stock from Sam as well as others.. (i think he had some TON crosses as well..)

    Growing/mounting Sophronitis cernua?

watch for active root tips... i showed a similar mount to that to Peter Lin of DIamond orchids... he immediately started pulling the moss off the mount... but remember the adage,."what works for you works for you;. Meaning, what i just mentioned about Peter pulling moss off may...

    Growing/mounting Sophronitis cernua?

Maybe this is worth appending to this thread. Mine was growing well on a teak root. But ‘let go’ and stopped growing well. I just removed it from the root, cleaned it up, and mounted to a fresh piece of cork. I can update this thread in 6 months or so with the progress for infos sake.

Anyone Know if These are Registered yet?

Might be worth putting together a ‘pinned’ cheat sheet of knowledge tidbits to help others navigate the RHS site idiosyncrasies…. For example, for a hybrid lookup, the order of the parents matters. Stonei x Roth may return a ‘not found’ whereas Roth x stonei may return Lady Isobel. (And...

Difficulties in growing Kovachii (Stagnant growth)

in our locale, feed stores sell both 'chicken grit' and the stuff pictured below. the chicken grit is a coarser media but also provides a source of calcium... i use the stuff pictured liberally as 'oyster shell' multiple growers/breeders i know do the same and call it 'oyster shell'...
