    Thank you..!

    Bulbo purpureorachis

Its found in the Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Ivory Coast and Zaire. I can't find any info on the pollinator, but my guess would be ants.

    Another Phrag. Frank Smith

Fabulous! Great colour, shape, pouch, speckles, even attitude..!

    Paph Gold Dollar

Yes, I really didn't expect the 2nd bud to actually bloom, as it is a small plant. A very pleasant surprise..!

Memoria **** Clements w unusual bloom

Sounds like the heat was probably too much for them, seems the best guess.

    Long delayed longifolium

The synsepal is about twice as wide as the one on a Don Wimbur I have in bloom just now. Certainly unusually wide, but also lovely, more striking than usual.

    Long delayed longifolium

This longifolium sent up about 10" of spike a year ago, and then stopped. I didn't know what it was, as the tag had long been lost. I kept watering it each day, and this spring it finally started to grow again. Very weird, never seen this before. But it opened and I was delighted.

    Bulbo purpureorachis

Shot today. You can see how the blooms open further up the spiral as the bloom cycle develops.

    Bulbo purpureorachis

Nearly finished now. It is a long-lasting enjoyment of the blooms that one gets with this Bulbo.

    sanderianum in Scotland

The silence suggests that this is the only species in the genus that has this "sweating" on the pouches. That's interesting..!

    sanderianum in Scotland

Am very intrigued: is anyone aware of this sugar secretion happening on the pouches of any other species in the genus?

    Bulbo purpureorachis

I'm really glad so many of you like this one. Its every bit as wonderful to see in the flesh. I'd recommend it to anyone with a warm section, and an eye for the unusual.

    Bulbo purpureorachis

Good question..! What has surprised me is that (A) I'm way up in Scotland, so light levels are never really high; and (B) I had this plant sitting on the floor of the greenhouse, having shade in the morning, whereas the other plant was on the staging, getting more light. The latter has only just...

    sanderianum in Scotland

Does this happen in any other of the Paph species?

    sanderianum in Scotland

I haven't seen discussion anywhere about the beads of moisture on the pouches, but it is consistent. They were there with the first blooming 3 years ago. As I mentioned, the beads of moisture don't appear until a few days after the bloom opens.

    sanderianum in Scotland

I took these photos yesterday, 3 days after the 4th bloom opened up. The beads of sweat appear after the first few days, it isn't due to careless watering or excess humidity. Has anyone else noticed this on the pouches of sanders?
