Awesome photos, Brian. I am so happy you are posting these for everyone to see. The flower in this photo is Paph. Franz Glanz (emersonii x armeniacum) (And yes it's a REAL Paph. Franz Glanz)

    Slipper symposium

No, it's the same hotel as shown on the Host Hotel page. Clarion Hotel & Conference Center Tampa located at 2701 Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL. / Reservations: 813-971-4710. Apparently since the time we originally posted the URL, the parent company just redirected the link, making it absolutely...

Paph. Krull's Worthy Web 'Aldarra', FCC/AOS

I remember that now, Ed, that's what you told me - but I didn't hear it. I dunno, but I really wonder if they might not have been joking. It's a Paph. charlesworthii hybrid. Hard to imagine a dorsal "too big."

Paph. Krull's Worthy Web 'Aldarra', FCC/AOS

Candace - no kidding! That's how it has been for me 99% of the time over the last 25 years. You either have to drive hundreds of miles to another judging center or just hope for better timing next year. In the case of this plant - the flowers looked this good for the PREVIOUS month's judging...

Paph. Krull's Worthy Web 'Aldarra', FCC/AOS

This is a hybrid we have already been shown by at least two other growers here, Bob's plant and another wonderful cultivar in this thread: Fren's plant I have seen several others in bloom and there hasn't been one yet that I wouldn't want on my bench. They are all very nice. First, the...

Paph. niveum var. ang thong 'Maybrook', AM/AOS

Jim, yes on a case-by-case basis. I don't add it for the brachys. I have better luck if they dry out a little faster than other paphs between waterings.

Paph. niveum var. ang thong 'Maybrook', AM/AOS

Nope - no rockwool. Just a simple bark/charcoal/perlite mix with crushed oyster shell top dressing.

Brachy Case Update - May 2010 Since this thread was recently revived, I thought folks might enjoy seeing a couple photos from this year (2010). While it is nearly the exact same time of year as the previous photos in this thread, there a few different things in bloom. The topic...

    Paph Marilyn Hanson

I was just visiting with Marilyn Hanson today. Yes - the very Marilyn Hanson this cross is named for. I am pretty sure she has never heard of Marilyn Manson. :poke:

    Morels?

It's hard to pin down. This year I have collected morels from an area under a Douglas Fir tree that had a thick layer of forest duff, a sloping hillside out in the open at the base of some young alder trees, and near a dead and decaying big-leaf maple stump. All three locations had very...

Nice result. I have 'Alfri' in bloom right now, and was just thinking how nice it would be if that pink weren't there.
