Another round of guess the spike

I bet it is an adductum by looking at the flower sheath.

    Paph Gemstone's Randschild

I bought it from Mr. Shen of Taiwan few years ago, don’t know whether he is the breeder or he just bought the seedlings form the real breeder for cultivation.

    Paph Gemstone's Randschild

Those outstanding clones are still in the seller’s hand and not for sale. They have even bigger and rounder dorsal and the petal is even more curve like a randsii. He only leaked some second tier one in the market so that mine is just quite good / well . Haha.

Culture of Paph lowii and Paph roebelenii

Particularly pay attention to good ventilation for lowii or it will be affected by fungus infection easily. Also, lower light intensity for lowii as compared with philippinese.

    Paph Gemstone's Randschild

It is not a commonly seen primary multi hybrid between rothschildianum and randsii. I love this one as it looks like a bigger version of randsii and most importantly, much easier to raise as compared with randsii. Of course, this one is a selected clone that I bought with high price so that...

    Here is the whole plant.

    Paph. rothschildianum “PT1” x “Butterfly” (2010)

It is the third blooming, hence, little chance for further improvement.

    Paph. rothschildianum “PT1” x “Butterfly” (2010)

An old breeding series from Taiwan, and produces well above average standard flower this time. DS: 6.7 cm (measuring from the leftmost to the rightmost of the dorsal, NOT the curve length of it.) NS: 30 cm Petal width: 2 cm

What is the best roth cross?

There is no English name for the roths clone “Big Panda”. It is just translated laterally from its Chinese name “大熊貓”. The owner of it is Mr. “朱文彬” and you can search his Facebook profile by copying the owner’s name for searching. Inside his Facebook, there are some of his magnificent roths...

What is the best roth cross?

I think a few of the Taiwan main overseas exporters to overseas may sell the “pretended roths” as roths to western countries, don’t know they are pretending to do so or by mistakes. However, local Paph cultivators and Hong Kong experienced Paph grower can always locate the right reliable...

What is the best roth cross?

I think the best roths cross now is from Taiwan, which is the sibling cross of “big panda”. Many of them can produce more than 7 cm wide dorsal and 35 cm NS for the first bloom.

Bud watching for two uncommon multi floral species

Yes. It is a randsii seedling from Choyi. First time blooming for a small single growth. Actually, I have some blooming sized forest randsii that fully adapted the artificial environment and they are not big too, but still bigger than the seedling.

Bud watching for two uncommon multi floral species

I hope that my ooii can flower too, but they haven’t. 😆

A good try, keep it up.

Bud watching for two uncommon multi floral species

Bravo! Intaniae is correct but I haven’t seen a gigantifolium can flower in such a tiny size.

Bud watching for two uncommon multi floral species

Can you guess what they are? I think the bigger one is easier as compared with the smaller one.

Paph. philippinese var. laevigatum “red ruby” x self (Not an ordinary laevigatum)

That’s true. However, I have heard that “red ruby” is a forest plant so that if it is really a selfing of it, the genie of such clone should be a pure laevigatum.

Paph. philippinese var. laevigatum “red ruby” x self (Not an ordinary laevigatum)

It is a selfing of the famous laevigatum clone, “red ruby”, and I have the parent plant too. The difference is mainly on petal stance and length: the parent can produce longer, flatter petal. There are many selfing plants for red ruby selling in Taiwan. However, not every selfing plant can...
