    Paph callosum fma viridiflorum

Growing indoor, I have to pick up my plants to water them and put them back in the rack after that. Whenever I change the orientation towards the LED lights while the flower is opening, I end up with a wonky flower. I am sure it will be fixed next flowering.

    Paph papuanum "alboviride" (*)

In case it was not obvious; "fma. dirkianum" was a joke building on prior name suggestions. My personal contribution (flowering a single seedling someone else has created) certainly does not warrrant to have it named after me and I think a latin name like alboviride or similar would be more...

    Paph papuanum "alboviride" (*)

...as long as someone is also considering Paph. papuanum fma. dirkianum - I shall not unbelt my dirk (A long Scottish dagger with a straight blade) and you can keep playing waldorf and stattler ;) Dirk

    Paph papuanum "alboviride" (*)

Hey guys, I love the idea, but sacrifying the plant is no option. For now, let's just enjoy the pictures. I will do my best to grow and reflower it. Hopefully next round it will be strong enough to self and we can produce more offspring for all of us to enjoy.

    Paph papuanum "alboviride" (*)

I am looking for further details on the color form name "alexejanum" that I have been using in the title of my posting but all I could find in my books and on internet is that this name was used to describe a paler color form and not for the albino form. Maybe I need to change the name and call...

    Paph papuanum "alboviride" (*)

With 25 °C in the living room today it is finally speeding up. This is how it looks today. I don't know why my (evening? mobile?) pictures always look like there is a pinkish hue on the petals, but it has absolutely no red pigments and is certainly albino. I got it early 2020 as a 7.5cm seedling...

Am I sailing on dangerous waters?

Here is my “two cents” of advice. I know it is not ‘perfect’. I always like to measure and compare results. Whenever I drastically change my setup (potting media, pot type, culture area changes...), I fill two containers with media, but without a plant in it. I keep one completely dry, and I...

    Paph papuanum "alboviride" (*)

(*) EDIT May 27th I started this posting as Paph. papuanum fma. alexejanum. I am very grateful for the feedback I received from Olaf Gruß that this form name is only used for the paler color form of papuanum. For the albino color form (without any red pigment) there is no official name. I...

    Paph Pinocchio "album"

Thank you Jens, I fully agree that Paph Pinocchio fma alboviride would have been the name if I had the opportunity to name this white/green color form. But it was purchased as "Pinocchio album form" and to honor that I kept the title as Paph Pinocchio "album" (with "album" as cultivar name and...

    Paph Pinocchio "album"

I can confirm, there is absolutely no red pigment in this flower, so a valid albino color form. Thanks for all the very nice comments!

    Paph Pinocchio "album"

This is a cross between the albino forms of both glaucophyllum and primulinum. There is some diversity in the offspring of this hybrid, but I really love this paler color form very much. I cannot take any credit for the great quality of plant and flower, as it came to me in flower from Exotic...

    Paph. randsii

really wonderful !!! I love this species. If possible, could you show the full plant? I would like to see how much more my seedling needs to grow before I can start hoping for a flower.

    Paph callosum fma viridiflorum

Another albino species in flower, bought as "small type" Not the best flower shape, but I think it's cute, and different, and I like it, so it's a keeper for me.

Paphiopedilum Maudiae ‘Bankhouse’ (callosum forma viridiflorum x lawrenceanum forma hyeanum) – an albino flower

According to F. Desbois' monographie in 1898 forma hyeanum was named in honor of an amateur grower, Jules Hye living in Ghent, Belgium who was flowering an imported albino plant and that was used to describe this color form.

    My Blooming Beauties

Thank you Leslie, really appreciated. Together with my purpuratum album earlier this is for sure on my list of challenging albino species I have flowered. I just hope I am not counting my chickens before they're hatched. It needs to open, it needs to be papuanum and it needs to be free of...

    My Blooming Beauties

Thank for the nice comments Rudolf, and always happy to share That papuanum seedling I bought in 2020 took ages to mature, and now it looks like the flower also also takes his time to open... I really hope it proves to be "tag genuine" and doesn't blast on me before opening... when successful I...

    My Blooming Beauties

I'm thrilled to share a picture of my current blooming Paphs! Really feeling grateful that 7% of my in-house grown collection is in flower at the same time, and even two new ones I have not yet posted before as they are first time flowering seedlings. From left to right: Paph. callosum fma...

    Sic transit gloria mundi

So, we will be pilloried if we as an amateur accidentaly purchase a guaranteed lab grown plant - which may have originated from a single seed pod without CITES - but they are allowed to plunder nature on the spot until they are on the CITES Red List. maybe high time to review the CITES legislation?
