    Flask progress

Inspiring to see your progress. So the MK put out multiple spikes in its first flowering? That’s amazing.

    My Paphiopedilum gigantifolium

Congratulations, impressive! How big is it?

Nice blooms and photos! What are are parents’ clonal names?

That’ll be great if you can.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Thanks. Really helpful that you have these side by side photos. From this informationa, it like true roebeliniis may be pretty rare then as I’m not sure I’ve seen many photos of Paph philippinense with long narrow stiff leaves.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

It’s green apple x green delight. It’ll be cool to compare photos when yours blooms.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

How do you tell the difference in the shape of leaves of between var compactum vs var roebelinii?

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Thanks. It’s helpful that you have original collected plants to compare with. How would you classify the plant on the left?

Thanks. I’ll note the correct fma designation - it is quite yellow.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Album form is from Sam, regular colored form is from Norman’s Orchids.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Thanks, I was surprised how long the petals were even with this first blooming. I wonder is it leaf texture / form that determines standard vs var roebelinii - what about petal form/length? It does happen to have some green veining too which suggests philippinense from what I understand...

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Here’s a reposting of the Paph philippinense var album now with it’s 5th flower open, and another first bloom plant Var Roebelinii (?).

Paph. intaniae - anyone grown this from flask?

Sorry to hear this. Curious where you got the flask from.

Paph Gary Romagna / Paph philippinense

It’s Green Apple x Green Delight. Keeping my fingers crossed that there’s going to be a 5th bloom on this.

Paph Gary Romagna / Paph philippinense

It looks promising. I will repost if/when the 5th bloom opens.

    Tamiami Orchid Festival

Nice photos, thanks. Keep them coming - esp if you see unusual MF paph species.

Paph Gary Romagna / Paph philippinense

I would prefer a broader (and flatter) dorsal on the GR but maybe that’s the philippinense influence. I think the left philippinense is var laevigatum, and the album one is var roebelinii album?
