Multi-floral season 2022 - bud watching and exciting

Thanks for the tip. Is a water panel a humidifier component? Does this mean your adductum and anitum get higher levels of humidity or are kept constantly moist? I have an anitum that has not shown any sign of leaf growth for the last 8 months, although I see some root growth through the...

Multi-floral season 2022 - bud watching and exciting

Very exciting! Do you grow the adductum differently from the others? I’ve heard it’s a particularly difficult species to grow.

    Paph. Hsinying Anita

Sam’s current Hsinying Anitas are either Lady Isabel ‘Lady in Red’ or ‘Jumbo Lady’ x anitum ‘Ace’. Looks like he does not have your cross anymore. Your plant looks very nice - hopefully these new crosses will also have such a great dorsal shape and size.

Stalite or Expanded Shale in NJ / PA

I’ve seen some very nice plants grown in media containing stalite/permatil or expanded shale. Does anyone know where these can be purchased in the NJ/ PA area? The online sources are pricey to ship. Thanks!

By the way, how do you maintain your plants while away for a month?

    Paph. Hsinying Anita

Nicely shaped and sized dorsal! Which parents were used? I just got this cross from Sam and wanted to see what I can potentially expect - he has 2 using different Lady Isabels. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing all of this info. Hoping to get to visit Sam’s gh over the winter. Does he let you choose plants from the bench? Must be such a cool experience.

    Paph. parnatanum

Wonderful you’ve been able to keep these plants going esp if they’re no longer around in the wild. Hopefully seedlings can be made available here in North America too.

    Grande “Chinaman”

Nice blooms. Did it come with that clonal name? It’s more than just being PC or woke that in this day and age, when people have been hurt and killed because of racism - that it’s probably worth a bit of thoughtfulness in choosing clonal names that are not hurtful or harmful. Just imagine if...

    Paph Michael Koopowitz

Impressive you were still able to get blooms after all that treatment. We’ll watch out for that nursery when they have plants for sale here in NA.

Paph. rothschildianum 'Giant Wings' x 'Pylo'

Amazing - that’s probably the largest mass of Roth blooms I will ever see!

    Paph Michael Koopowitz

Very nice! How small is the plant? A compact MK sounds great. Also can I ask how you can get plants from them?

Paph. rothschildianum 'Giant Wings' x 'Pylo'

Would it be possible to see the different crosses side by side to see how they’re different? Maybe what you consider the ‘best’ few of each cross compared with each other. That would be very instructive.

Paph. rothschildianum 'Rex' x 'Tokyo Fantasy'
