    Free-flowering Paphs?

These ARE the fast maturing plants lol. You can make a Paph bloom whenever you want, just manipulate the seasons.

Paph. Wossner Black Wings ‘Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes’

For the grower's sake, let's quantify some things. Shape is good, color is good, no problems there. Spread, at 20.7, is fine, dorsal at 4.9 is quite narrow for this cross. Petal width at 1.4 is fine. Three flowers is acceptable, but it appears to be unstaked, which messed with spacing...

    Free-flowering Paphs?

Hmm, Mount Low, Saint Low, Toni Semple, Berenice...most of em, really. Choice of plant is crucial, too: pick plants that have waited to spike until the next growth is close to mature.

Oh they can do more than that. Adult WBW, lovingly ripped from internet:

Why are there not more Complex Paph crossed with Rothschildianum or Sanderianum?

They're farther apart genetically than it seems. Creating a hybrid between Hellas and rothschildianum, for example, is like crossing a complex Odont to a Brassia. It might work, but it probably won't work the way you think. You might get even less than a dozen to germinate, often only one or...

Paph. Wossner Black Wings ‘Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes’

Fair enough but honestly, I don't know what's to debate. They can be told apart at a glance ( true roth x adductum has a dorsal color that washes to nearly white basally vs. the green of roth x anitum) and there are no true JB awarded in the last 12 years lol. All that aside, this is a nice...

2nd one is bigger and darker

Paph. Wossner Black Wings ‘Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes’

Actually the highest awards have six, with dorsals approaching 7cm, but they're under Johanna Burkhardt because of the adductum/anitum nonsense.

Mexipedium xerophyticum ‘Windy Hill’ x ‘Oaxaca’

    What is this pouchless BS?

    Orchids 2024

In that case, set a pod on Mt Millais with pollen from Alford. You'll get the hybrid vigor of Rex x MM and the color of Val x MM all in one shot.

    Orchids 2024

Probably Rex but not Rex x MM; it was already a multigrowth plant when it was awarded. It was also huge when it was awarded, NS 34, Dorsal 6.2.

    Cypripedium flavum MidAtlantic 2024

Red might be possible, if you crossed to irapeanum and the like, but you might get impossible hybrids, or it might wash the flowers white (or both...probably both...)

    Long have I waited...

One of the last things my friend flasked for me before I took over the lab. Germination was super sparse & I only got a small handful of plantlets. 3 are still alive. Haven't been able to get grandiflora to germinate for me yet, but I do have a couple peramoena that survived their first...

    Long have I waited...

At last, more than twice as long from seed as the other Platantheras: Platanthera grandiflora!

Cyp acule (southern most site at low elevation?)

They go much farther south than that. Even south of Atlanta, GA, they are still at less than 1000ft elevation.

    Free-flowering Paphs?

Most complex lowii-based hybrids are like that. Once they get big, they'll bloom 2-3x a year
