    Paph. thaianum

It's the roots that matter. They need big root systems to bloom. A single fan should have at least 8 big, fleshy roots that completely fill a 2" x 3"tall pot. If they have that, they will bloom about a year from deflasking.

    philippinense 'Early Riser' 2024

I doubt I'll self it; it's really not good enough for that. Needs a shot of something with longer petals and better twists.

    philippinense 'Early Riser' 2024

Thanks all. It's not the biggest or best phil, but it has great color, good vigor, and bloomed super fast from flask (less than 3 years.). It is indeed pretty compact, with "three" spikes in a 5in pot with a 16in leafspan. I remade Harbinger's Dark Ages (x wilhelminae) and Lebaudyanum (x...

    philippinense 'Early Riser' 2024

There were three spikes, but I knocked a bud off one & decided to just cut it. Flowers on the right side aren't done twisting yet.

    Spiranthes sinensis

Bought a compot from Longwood Gardens last year. Kinda disappointing ( They can be much darker pink than this) but still cute. Flowers are about 2 x 2 x 4mm

    My best Rothschildianum

It's probably a 'Dark Angel ' x 'Howard P. Martin'. That's what's going around and blooming out at the moment.

Bud watch: Wössner Kolorand x rothschildianum

I doubt they'll be ugly; I was teasing. I suspect they will look a lot like Gemstone's Randschild.

Bud watch: Wössner Kolorand x rothschildianum

I'm expecting 4-5 on first bloomers, 8-9 on full adults. Mom & Dad on their first blooms, so you don't have to go searching through my old threads:
