    Phragmipedium Stephen Manza

This is widely considered to be the greatest orchid hybrid produced by mortal hands. Eric has a disturbingly large shrine to it in his living room. Pod sibs - Green Hornet x Barbara Leann --Stephen

    Paph liemianum

I dunno why any of my orchids bloom 🤷‍♂️ My temps are about 65 in winter, 72 in summer. Basically whatever keeps us comfortable inside. Humidity stays at 65-75% in the cabinet. 12 hours of light per day. I don't vary it by season so as not to confuse our cockatiel who lives near the...

For Sale An opportunity for lab equipment

Good idea! The wife will be a little concerned, but she can track me on Google. I hope it fits in my subcompact.

    Round Paph. niveum

Purdy. Please keep me in mind if you'd ever like to sell a division.

For Sale An opportunity for lab equipment

Shoot, wrong coast. I'd love a laminar flow hood. Thanks for the info, Ray!

    Paph liemianum

This one blooms with two growths like clockwork for me. The old spikes fade just as the new ones bloom. Although I can't seem to remember if it's every year or every two years... Right now it's got 5 flowers on two new spikes plus 2 flowers on an old spike. I've only ever seen it hold 3...

Paphiopedilum delenatii with 3 flowers on one inflorescence

Very nice! How many growths is the plant that has this spike?

When does alba/album cancel out color in hybrids?

This is a great question and the sort of thing I wish the great Paph breeders would write articles on. Basically, I want to know how and why they choose which crosses to make. Unfortunately, Terry Root is out of the business and we lost Hadley Cash. But maybe someone could convince Paul...

Best Flowerstore Find! - P. Eric Young

I was surprised to see a whole rack of complex paphs at Costco back in 2014. Unfortunately, they didn't have tags.

Wanted 10 or so BS Paph spicerianum

Thanks everyone - I'm all set for these.

Wanted 10 or so BS Paph spicerianum

I do not care either way. Spicerianum blooms so easily I would be surprised to find a large batch of multi-growth unbloomed plants.

Wanted 10 or so BS Paph spicerianum

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can refer me to someone that has a pile of BS Paph spicerianum for sale. Bonus points for multi-growths. I'm hoping to have a whole forest of them later this year. Thanks, --Stephen

    Babies in from the lab

They're secret. And made with parents of no particular note. Mostly so I can name a hybrid after my late aunt, who was an avid gardener. Plus, this means I can do a test of growing environments with the 10 flasks I got of 1 cross. I've got my orchid cabinet, an orchid aquarium, and a tray in...

    Babies in from the lab

Flasks from 3 of my own new crosses just arrived from Orchid Origins. Quality growth, but many got jumbled in transport as usual. Luckily the plantlets are almost never damaged. 18 flasks that I have nowhere near enough room for. But I'll make space. --Stephen

    Paph tigrinum

If anyone wants pollen, they are welcome to it. But if it's for another tigrinum, better find a lab with experience with the species.

    Paph tigrinum

Thanks, but I don't think I'll try breeding tigrinum. They're supposed to be really touchy in flask. I think Hengduan had developed some special multiple-replate method.
