    Two New AOS Awards

Terra Azul is a Ching Hua clone. No award recorded anywhere in OrchidWiz. To your second point... that’s why I kept the names the same.

    Two New AOS Awards

It would not be renaming it. A species plant that is not awarded is not ‘named’. Breeders name unawarded species (and hybrids) so they can keep track of breeding or to identify it when selling divisions... or mericlone seedlings.

    Two New AOS Awards

Saturday I brought two older Cattleya walkeriana to Judging. I received an AM/AOS on each. They were named but not awarded. Since I’m sure many people have bought divisions of these over the years I kept the name the same so they would know their plants now carry the award. The price for these...

    Who Likes to Cook

Southern Greens This was always part of the menu on 'Soul Food Night' when I cooked in Brooklyn. Collards and Mustard Greens Saute onion Halved cherry tomatos... this time I used some leftover Chunky Style Salsa which also substitutes for the little bit of vinegar I would usually add at the...

    Cattleya walkeriana coerulea ‘Reese’

Hey abax I buy walkers wherever I can find them. I look for named clones... awarded or not and buy divisions. I’ve gotten plants from Waldors, Fred Clark, Orchid Eros and sometimes from Brazilian growers when they’re shipping to the USA. I’ve gotten a few from MainStreet Orchids in PA and one or...

    Cypripedium acaule in Pots (2021)

Hello NYEric I grow my Cyp. acaule in clay bulb pans in a 50/50 mix of Turface/coconut coir. I water with rain water and 3 oz apple cider vinegar/gallon. I have no idea what the pH is but I do add 1/8 tsp DynaGrow orchid fertilizer/gallon once a month.

    Anyone recognize this pattern?

Looks like edema and it can happen if a plant takes on too much water at one time... it can happen if your plants have gone too long without water and you water with fertilizer. It has happened to me with my Paphiopedilum and my C walkeriana. In a situation where my plants might have become too...

    Cypripedium acaule in Pots (2021)

The petals are a little wacky but he flower is finally open all the way now. This is the only one to bloom out of twenty. As expected the one that bloomed last year did not bloom this year and is probably due to producing a seed pod.

    Cypripedium acaule in Pots (2021)

A couple weeks ago I was excited to see this acaule had two growths coming up for the first time. What could be more exciting than that? It has a bloom coming on also. Last year this acauale had 5 leaves... this year it looks like it’s going to have 6. Cyp acaule usually have two leaves but...

    Trillium underwoodii (Northern type)

This underwoodii is shorter than the last one I posted. I’m not sure if that’s a distinguishing characteristic between the two.
