    Trillium ludovicianum (Louisiana Trillium)

Last spring I got this as a one stem plant. It survived the winter in a pot and this year it has two stems and a smaller third growth at the base. I like the pattern on the leaves of this one.

Hi Linus I have done the “low and slow” method. I cooked three or four whole boneless prime rib roasts every weekend for a Sunday brunch at a Brooklyn restaurant I worked at for about 18 months. We did them at 275-325° for about 4 hours +/- a few. I always cook my turkeys at 500°F.

Hi KyushuCalanthe Nice little P. rivale... I got a few in the fall a couple years ago but they didn’t survive the winter. I’m waiting until I find some established in pots to try again. The Trillium nivale I have are growing in a 50% Turface, 50% Peat mixture. Pine bark on top in the spring to...

I coated this roast with a slurry consisting of a good hand full of garlic cloves, Montreal Steak seasoning (McCormick), some dry thyme and olive oil in the food processor. The roast was room temperature and put into a 500° oven for 6 minutes/pound then the temp was reduced to 170° for 2.5 more...

    Trillium nivale

I have a couple hundred of these Trillium as well as 30 or so other species and a few oddballs. I’ll post pics as they bloom. I do plan on planting them out in a garden when I finally find a new place. My stop in Jersey is only temporary and that’s why all of my perennial collection is in...

    Is this jenmanii alba?

So here’s some food for thought: 1) There are, from what I find, 49 accepted species of Cattleya 2) There are, from what I find, 2,821 known primary hybrids. Questions: 1) It seems obvious that nature is probably as good at this as we are... as long as the two species are in proximity to each...

    Perennial Garden Construction Photo Essay

Hey Tom That is Indian Paintbrush. I dont have personal experience with Rodgersia or Cimicifuga but I know Rodgersia pinnata prefers partial shade and more water. I had a fairly large collection of bog plants and some of my friends grew it in their bog gardens. As for Cimicifuga I've never...

    They're coming.... my first flask.

If they separate easily separate them. If you have to mess with them it's better to leave them alone. Mike's compots look great but if each one represents a flask then the smaller number would separate more easily. The plants in the flask photo in your post look like they might separate easily.
