    Anticipation is making me wait

I'm not sure why it has more stout leaves than most. Probably because I grow it in fairly high light, and it dries out fast in the summer due to the intense heat (above 30 C daily). In winter it is kept under a fiberglass roofed porch, but otherwise is exposed to the elements. I water it just...

    Anticipation is making me wait

Update on this plant. After a disappointing flowering last year (buds scorched by the sun), I am glad to report the plant is in flower again. This year I got smart and brought it inside to flower it under controlled conditions. Plant's stats: - grown since ~2012, bought as a single flowering...

    Phragmipedium Incan Treasure

It is really beautiful - living candy. If I lived in a cooler climate and had more room I'd like to grow a few of these. They always melt on me in the summer.

Laelia superbiens v. alba (syn Shomburgkia)

Amazing. You can't help but wonder what would be the advantage to having such long spikes in a forested habitat. And then you realize that the world is full of unexpected things.

Growing Vanda falcata in UK - finally long grade sphagnum

Quality grade, long strand sphagnum has become rather rare even here. Yes, you can buy "the good stuff" if you dig hard enough, but it is in high demand and requires deep pockets. All the poor plants in my collection are currently growing in less than optimal NZ moss.

    Wow, that is gorgeous.

    Psygmorchis pusilla Challenge

Nicely done! Being SO tiny, and true twig epiphytes, they must be nearly impossible in the open air - unless you live in a frostfree cloud forest!

More anticipation: thaianum '#1' x sukhakulii

    That's really out there! Neat.

    That's wonderful.

Phalaenopsis schilleriana and a unknown hybrid

Beautiful. IMO schilleriana is one of those "must have" species if you have the proper conditions. It is just a wonderful plant, in or out of bloom. Nicely done.

    Red Cattleya

That sure is red. Personally, I wouldn't change the name - straight to the point!
