    Back at it?

Yes, I see those from time to time. They are pretty, but clearly are hybrids. Even the beloved orange forms are all hybrids.

    Dendrobium moniliforme 'Sankanou'

That's quite a list! Update on my plant today. BTW, I've heard these are not quite as cold hardy as the wild forms of D. moniliforme. I grow it in the open alongside the pure species. They tend to drop their leaves when left out, but so do most D. moniliforme types. Temperatures never fall...

    Phragmipedium Ruth Morrow

    That is really impressive. Congrats.

    Brassoepidendrum Green Dragon

I love it. I wonder just how cold it can withstand. I know E. magnoliae is one of the most cold hardy of all epiphytic orchids. I'd love to get a piece!

    Dendrobium moniliforme 'Sankanou'

Those hangers are made from the wire used to train bonsai. They are easy to bend, so that's why I use them. This variety must contain some D. officinale (Syn. stricklandianum, D. tosaense, D catenatum). True D. moniliforme are shades of pink, purple, white and cream. One's that are yellow or...

    Dendrobium moniliforme 'Sankanou'

Here's mine today. Definitely a hybrid. It is said that the yellow flowered D. moniliforme was used in the cross.

    What’s for dinner?

Saturday nights my wife and I skip dinner and just have snacks. Last week was black olives and cherry tomatoes, guacamole and tortilla chips, smoked Gouda and brie with kale flavored crackers, smoked salmon and Genoa salami. Tonight I've made hummus as well with fresh cut veggies.

    Back at it?

Gottcha. I have only 3 hybrids currently. They are fun, but not "true" fuukiran. They also tend to be not as cold hardy, which is a problem since I grow outdoors year round.

    Back at it?

Which hybrid did you mean? As far as I know, Houmeiden is said to be a naturally occurring sport from a plant found in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1993. Did you mean the "aochatsuki" hybrid in another thread? Supposedly the first division was sold at a silly price back in the day. The ones you see...

    Back at it?

Here's my Houmeiden this year. Such lovely ruby roots.

    Back at it?

I love that little ruby tip poking out of the bottom. Mine is growing roots like mad now. Lovely plant in and of itself.

    Cypripedium seedling hints

    And also central Alabama!

    Back at it?

They look rather good for neglected plants. I'd give them a repot though or you will run into root rot.

    Den. unicum

No,no! I wasn't criticizing your picture, I actually like it. As a person who has dabbled in photography since my teens, its cool to see a photo doesn't look like it was shot with an iphone.

    Den. unicum

Loving that shallow depth of field!

    Strange question on Neofinetia breeding

Heather, I got it at a local nursery that sells high end retail plants. I used to see quite a few V. falcata and its hybrids for sale around town at nurseries and seasonal festivals. They mostly have disappeared recently. This is no doubt a plant grown up by Seed back in the day. They import...
