Yeah, I should give it another try. I think my particular plant just lost vigor, and I never could revive it. It seems like everyone else is growing them like weeds!

Too bad Parvi flowers don't last that long. I still love them and they grow really well in the conditions here.

If this place were any hotter, I'd cook 😁 I think the winters are too much for them - cool, damp, and too dark. Works great for Parvi paphs, but anything that likes heat suffers.

It looks like you hanged them from their buds during development! This is a frustrating plant to flower most years. Once in a while (like last year) mine gives a wonderful display, but most years something goes funky with the buds, or I get none (like this year!).

Locally I've never seen one before in person, and I spend a lot of time in wild areas (that's over 20 years). I have heard reports of them though, including ones in the neighborhood. They must be very secretive in these parts. By contrast, while up in Shiga Prefecture I saw whole troops...

Woke up to something banging around on the roof. I was surprised to find a monkey up there! He started coming towards me quickly, so I didn't hang around!
