Anyone with experience of SMC (spider mite control)?

I only grow inside. Point is to starve them. Every predator doesn't eat all its prey, that would be silly. Evolution would have selected them right out..But if you have a lot of predators they will take what they can before they starve.

Anyone with experience of SMC (spider mite control)?

I've used more predators before. Works pretty well. The secret is to make sure you know what you are trying to kill (either key it out yourself or find an entomologist...) and pick something that eats it. Actually the real secret is to overload the predators and not try to establish a resident...

    Selenipedium palmifolium in flower

I would try to grow that... Don't know that I've ever seen Selenipedium offered for sale. The reputation is that they are all meters tall. That one could easily fit under my lights.

    Kovachii flasking

W9 + coconut or something else, do you think?

    Phrag flasks

Two or three compost per flask, usually. Sometimes I experiment.

    Kovachii flasking

Any good suggestions for flasking kovachii? I don't mind doing it myself, although it is certainly easier to send it out if I can be convinced it would be done well... If you have had success, care to share the medium that you used? I've tried a few phrags with marginal success. Plan is to...

    Phrag flasks

Maybe 10 flasks arrived from Chuck Acker today. Impeccably packed, as always. Still a good selection on his website

    Phrag. Jordan's Peach Tango

    Should be worth the wait.

    Paph wardii 'Littlefrog Go Green'

Not 'Double Delight' for this grex, I think it is 'New Dimension' x 'Emerald' (or Emerald something). Plants are basically second or third time bloomers in 2.25" pots. Two growths-ish. But I had some doubles on the first year blooms. Very free flowering, seem to bloom every six months or so.

    Phrag. kovachii ‘Grande’ x self

You could try using a bulb pan. Some of the best growth I've ever seen on phrags was in plants in shallow pans. Unfortunately they take up a heck of a lot of shelf space or I'd grow more that way.

    Phrag. Jordan's Peach Tango

This picture comes close, but doesn't quite capture the glow. Just spectacular. Probably the best color I've ever seen in a phrag, and I've seen a lot of phrags.

    Greater Lansing Show 2-24-24

Most of them are from too far away to restock... I grabbed a few more plants from my house but I didn't have much to work with. Mostly just empty.

    Greater Lansing Show 2-24-24

It was pretty crazy at 11 am on Sunday as well... Normally I can cruise in to my sales table around noon and there is still nobody there...

    Paph wardii 'Littlefrog Go Green'

My contribution to the AOS for the MSU show this weekend. 84pt AM. I always call this alba, but I think it is properly the alboviride form. Some day I will look that up. A lot of this grex (and this one) bloom with two flowers per inflorescence. Orchid Inn breeding. I keep threatening to...

    Paph.venustum

I'm always impressed with your plants. WIsh I could grow half as well. Beautiful color. Is this a grex you made? What are the parents?

Sold as Paphiopedilum kolopakingii, could it be paphiopedilum temptation instead ?

I agree, Temptation (not that tempting to me, I would prefer smaller plants).

    You be the judge

I am a vendor (very small) and judge (30+ years) and get maybe 10-12 awards per year lately? Something like that. I consider it my AOS tax. I try not to exhibit plants in shows that are not the best representatives of their type that I own - I'll show the best ones and sell the rest. So when...

I keep trying them and failing, too. Good growing!

Bud watch: Wössner Kolorand x rothschildianum

Would take me 10 years from flask... And feel like 50. Hope they give you a high flower count. No guts, no glory.
