Paphiopedilum Andrea Mantegna (coccineum x White Shimmer)

A very unique flower. I like it a lot!

Paph ([charlesworthii X Mem. George A. Benedict] X leucochilum)

Just opened. The seed parent was a smaller charlesworthii by complex cross. pictured below: Here is another that has bloomed

Paph. Bellatulum x In Charm Greenery

It has been used with success, but it generally takes two or more generations to bring the form back. Paph Paeony is an example. It has bellatulum as a grandparent on the Belisaire side. While Paeony 'Regency' has "regained" a somewhat classic shape, with improved, larger petals, one can still...

My trip to the Paph Guild, Sana Barbara

It was great talking with you, Rick! :)

    Paph. leucochilum x fairreanum

Very nice:clap: Crosses using leucochilum have only been registered since 2012. Most likely anything made using leucochilum prior to this was registered under godefroyae fma. leucochilum or godefroyae var. leucochilum. Goderfroyae x fairrieanum is Paph Estella. Here are links to some Estellas...

    Paph Todd Eckel 'Angels Call'

I have bloomed quite a few. They all from the original cross. This one and one other show strong influence from the fairrieanum grandparent. The plant size on this one is about mid way between Barbi-Doll and Honeycomb Creek. Some have been much smaller, but the flower quality has not been great...

    Paph Todd Eckel 'Angels Call'

Todd Eckel was an orchid enthusiast suffering from multiple auto immune conditions. I met him a couple summers ago and named this orchid for him. Just as this particular flower was starting to open last week, Todd passed away. His funeral service is tomorrow. Paph Todd Eckel = (Barbi-Doll X...

Paph (henryanum X Sioux 'Redwing' HCC/AOS)

I've done several (henryanum x standard complex) crosses and the all have been slow bloomers for me. Maybe there's a flaw in my culture that these plants are more sensitive to, or maybe the henryanums that I have used were not as vigorous and fast growing as new generations.

    Paph Harvest Light 'Potbelly'

The cross is Hampshire Harvest X Nulight. Its pedigree appears to go back at least 11 generations and includes in its lineage: Winston Churchill, Hellas twice, Valwin, Danella, and Gwen Hannen three times.

    Paph Harvest Light 'Potbelly'

Not particularly large for a standard complex, but it is big compared to the leaf span. Approximate flower measurements are: NS: 10cm DW: 8cm PW: 4.5cm

    Paph Harvest Light 'Potbelly'

Got this one from Arnold Klehm. I chose it for its flower shape and compact growth habit: tip to tip leaf span is just under 12 inches.

Paph (henryanum X Sioux 'Redwing' HCC/AOS)

The capsule was harvested 6/22/2009, so I'm guessing I got the flask back sometime in 2011, which makes the time from deflasking to bloom about 5 years.

    Paph. helenae x Barbilight

With barbigerum on one side of the cross and helenae on the other, this plant should make multiple growths per year. In a few years, one could expect multiple flower spikes each year.

    Tristar Red Dream

That's a keeper! How many more do you get to bloom out?

    Paph. Shun-Fa Golden 'Wotan' FCC/AOS 93pt

Congratulations on the award! Were the posted photos taken after transporting the plant to and from the the judging site?

Paph (henryanum X Sioux 'Redwing' HCC/AOS)

This is the first of this cross to bloom. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I only have a few seedlings.

    Paph. henryanum

Congratulations! Sometimes new plants take some patience and experimentation. It definitely paid of for you.

    godefroyae album 'Moonchild'
