Paphiopedilum micranthum blooming in their habitat.

Indeed from the pics It seems they prefer to stay next to the tree, maybe Is there any relantionship with the roots of the trees and their michorrizae?

Thanks for your beautiful pictures!!! Back in november 2019 I was in south Vietnam 'cos I didn't find any good flight to Hanoi. Didn't see unfortunately any paph down there. I guess the northern part Is much more interesting not only for orchids.

Coerulea Is awesome but I don't think she would thrive in my climate maybe one day I will dare.

Pete, what works best Is the right environment. Anyway, It depends on the vigor of the cultivar. I mounted the "Monster" on a big cork suspended in an orizontal position, then I also use a half coconut for the smaller ones or those that make just a bulb x year, the coerulea Is mounted vertically...

Beautiful!!! Always loved the waxy texture of these flowers.

Mounted or potted it definetely enjoys to stay in the warmer and more ventilated part of the GH. Like Cat. warneri It grows the new bulbs during the winter months so It needs lot of light and warm during the coldest months. It also likes to dry its roots up quickly after watering.

No Leslie, in the GH all year long, with full unshaded sun from december through mid march. Light Is the factor n.1 for good flower production. Outside I only grow cymbidium, some hardy Dendrobium and oncidium flexuosum.

Being a species that grows in a coastal climate, It does just fine where I live.
