Phragmipedium caricinum - Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

I have a full pot of one from a member of the Atlanta Orchid Society who was divesting of her collection. It's from Orchidbabies in Alabama, as I recall. It's big enough to divide to a number of 4" pots.

Primulinum In-Charm x Self Journey Log

Re fragrance, and oddly enough, I've encountered one fairrieanum that was fragrant '('Bold Venture' AM/AOS), and one niveum (no clone name, an import from Thailand in the mid 80s).

My First FCC to Phrag. Glen Decker

    Very nice.

    Wanted paph wilhelminiae

2-3" leaf span. I think they do better in pots, the ones potted into 4" are blooming size but sold.

    My best Rothschildianum

Thinking more about petal angle than saturation of near black, which I'm sure is more or less recessive.

    My best Rothschildianum

I took a look at their website. I see they've bought in plants of rothschildianum from Orchid Inn (now out of business), Orchidweb, Paph Paradise, and have some of their own as well. The one that looks most like yours is Paphiopedilum rothschildianum (‘Paradise City’ x ‘Dark Angel’)

After 40 years - rethinking my place in the world of orchids

This thread's gotten pretty long! Lots to say about it. Here we've had judges dying off, literally, and luckily have a half dozen students, of whom four are industrious and eagerly becoming knowledgeable; a first year associate who already is very knowledgeable. Even those who seem a little...

    My best Rothschildianum

Very nice. May I ask who sold it to you? Might give me a clue about parentage. I'll be interested to see natural spread in a week or so, I think it's going to continue opening a bit

    Phragmipedium pearcei

I grow them positioned such that the automatic misters that come on when the big fans do act to water them ten or twelve time daily through warm weather.

    Wanted paph wilhelminiae

Well, the 4" sold but I still have smaller ones in baskets, 'Caramel Twist' AM x self

    The award description and measurements.

    Wanted Awardable cochleopetalum wanted

I do have a spare smallish division of 'Bulby Baby' AM/AOS 83 points, 6/6/18. Photos of it attached. At this size, I wouldn't let it carry a seedpod but use pollen from one or two flowers and then pinch off the flowering stem. It looks ready to spike up. As it's a modest size, $150. I'll...

Wanted Paph. glanduliferum, praestans, wihelminae, gardineri

Please do let me know if you're NOT interested, there's another fellow who chimed in last night.

Wanted Paph. glanduliferum, praestans, wihelminae, gardineri

I also have two glanduliferum = praestans, could put your name on them fordivisions when ready. One has an AM and the other is the clone previously owned by Rod Mclellan Co,

    C. lueddemanniana coerulea

Great color great lip, love the veins - not all have them - the flaw I see is the folding on the top of the petals. I'd look at it in judging. I have 'Drago #3' which is similar but I bet yours is not that one.

    You be the judge

On the other issues, some folks are shady. Some centers less well informed, but Orchidpro is a huge step up from the Awards Quarterly in terms of seeing what's been done. A species has enough awards? Copout. And yes we joke in our center about the one that always gives FCCs to their favorite...

    You be the judge

Pass. Smaller, crowded, less floriferous. What I have my teams do is to look at the lowest recent HCC to see if there's wiggle room. If not, it doesn/t take much to sink it.

Wanted Paph. glanduliferum, praestans, wihelminae, gardineri

If you only want the 4" pots, blooming size (the one from Orchid Inn bloomed, about 13 cm across the petals), that's fine with me, $45 X 2 + 10 to ship = $100.

    Wanted Awardable cochleopetalum wanted

I went and looked, there are six in 4" pots - just potted, but had outgrown the compot. About 3 inch + leaf span, could bloom in 3-4 years. i'd say $25 each at this point. How many of those would you like?

    Wanted Awardable cochleopetalum wanted

I remembered finally, the plants are from Kerry Richards. The ones I crossed of them are 'Foamy' AM x 'Dumbotron' HCC, picked pretty much randomly from my plants. Let me see how many I potted up and if more are ready for 4". I'd say $45 each at this stage. There might be a division of one or...
