    Phrag sargentianum

Love it! I just picked up a division of sargentianum that I originally thought was going to be a seedling, so hopefully crossed mine will bloom in the fall/winter. How long did it take from spike to first bloom? Would you mind shooting a picture of the whole plant?

Advice for more growing space for Phrags (Lights, Shelves, Action)

Ray, Would you mind posting a picture of your set-up? I could maybe squeeze in to 48" if I can get around the TP holder but wouldn't be able to cover the rack and would just have to blast a humidifier or poke a hole in the cover. Thank you for the link, that is exactly what I was thinking for...

Advice for more growing space for Phrags (Lights, Shelves, Action)

So I am more or less close to maximizing out my available grow space in the windowsills. How did this happen? Who's to blame? What now... I am thinking next option is getting a wire shelving unit 72"x36"x18" (see attached photo for an idea). One thought is to have 3 shelves; one top shelf for...

    My first deflasking

I really wanted to get the full experience of growing phrag. besseae. One week in and they are all still alive and seem to be doing well. There seemed to be a myriad of options but I opted for a compot with orchiata, perlite, charcoal mix and a little dash of oyster shell. The annoying part was...

    Jason Fischer

The reason I did not put up pictures was that I came home yesterday to the pouch expanding but petals were clearly going the wrong direction (first two). Last two are from this morning, getting better but we are still not there. If the petals cooperate further the hs should be just above 10cm...

    Stunning tangerine dallesandroi

I reached out to the owner of Phragmipedium besseae "Maui" HCC/AOS: "I was hoping you could provide insight into the coloring of the Phragmipedium besseae “Maui” HCC/AOS. I found these two pictures one from the original awarding of HCC/AOS and a second one from February 2017 at a show in...

    Stunning tangerine dallesandroi

Here are two pictures of besseae "Maui" HCC/AOS. I think there may be something to the exposure/lighting being different and thus making this "tangerine" effect.

    My first orchid book- #throwbackslippers

My mom is in town visiting from Chicago and brought my first orchid book from the 90s. I opened it up to find a picture of a Paphiopedilum malipoense cut out of a sales catalogue (maybe Hausermann?). Funny thing is there's only two Phrags mentioned since this was printed in the late 80s, no...

Phrag. besseae: Differences between wild types?

Thank you. Eric, are there also some besseae with pink coloring? I thought I saw an older post mentioning a pink besseae. Vox, do you have a picture of your flowering Amazonas?

    Kovachii seedling

David, thank you. New roots make me happy and I needed a second opinion to temper my excitement. Was the original potting just seated too high from the medium?
