Proposal to evaluate genetic tools to evaluate Cattleya species

Understanding which genome variations are responsible for adaptive phenotypes has been my line of work for the last 15 years. With collaborators from around the world we have been specifically interested in mapping colour pattern genes of poison dart frogs, and while we made important advances...

    Phragmipedium ritcherii 'Hydra'

By trying to find on the forum other pictures of P. ritcherii for comparison, I found out their are no other pictures.....This is surprising how cool this species is with its elegant leaves, compact form and relatively big flowers.

    Phragmipedium ritcherii 'Hydra'

I just named it 10s ago :) This is a very vigorous grower that blooms all year long. The spikes consistently branches which is not a common feature of this species. The plant flowering habit is difficult to capture with a picture so I've added a video. Cheers, Mathieu

SelectOrchids -> My first plants and flasks order (with pictures)

I made my first purchase of plants and flasks from Xavier last weeks. I must first point out that I live in French Guiana (Oversea department of France in the Amazon) and shipping logistic is always…a bit complicated. So, since one of my friends was in Paris, I had the package sent to his hotel...

    Wanted Randsii hybrid

That is a shame :) From the plants I acquired from you in the past, I certainly know you have quality plants! Are you afraid that if you make a list, your greenhouse will empty too quickly? Just kidding, I know its a really time consuming effort to make a list and then to have to actualize it...

    Systemic fungicide

Yes, slipper orchids react well to these copper-based fungicides. Here we easily find a product called 'Bouillis Bordelaise' consisting of copper sulfate + calcium oxide. However, a small warning, I have found that some plants can be badly damaged by this fungicide. The first are bromeliads...
