    Lazy Update

I keep hearing that paphs grow slowly. It sure seems that way! But when you look at them every few hours it is difficult to notice any changes. 😂 But look what I discovered last night! Please tell me it is a spike and not rot. Thanks for the inspiration and suggestions. I'll be looking into soup...

    Lazy Update

I love that you posted pics of roots, not just blooms. Those are definitely roots to be proud of. I haven't bloomed a paph yet but watching that new leaf start to peak out is so exciting and addicting, I don't really care if they ever bloom. And now that I have so summarily dismissed blooms...

    Hello from Wa

Thank you. I am so glad to have discovered slipper talk. It is a nice distraction from, and substantially more informative than, the constant surfing of orchid vendors. 😂

    Wondering about pitted leaves

Hello, I am sorry you are battling this. I am a brand new grower and I have no experience with insecticides. However, I did a search for "safer insecticidal soap" and found this: Maybe someone with more experience can provide more reassurances. Good luck with getting rid of the beasties.

Is it possible that light amounts can effect flower color? I have been in love with this hybrid ever since I was bitten by the paph. bug. I would be estatic if I ever get mine to bloom like this. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the input. I think I might stop drawing the shade and see if they will grow a little faster.

I just acquired one of these. I am certainly not giving it direct sun. It sounds like it is a light hog, even with the armeniacum parent? Do all rothschildianum hybrids like high light regardless of the other parent?

    Miscellaneous stuff

Thanks for sharing the pictures. It is much better than an orchid nursery. 😊

Congratulations! They are beautiful. I can't wait to see the blooms. I have been thinking about trying a flask and this is further encouragement.

    Wondering about pitted leaves

Thank you for the name Ozpaph. I tried a google search last night. As everyone is saying it seems often attributed to watering problems, sometimes temperature problems, and I even saw a mention of insecticides causing it. Glad to know it isn't something I need to fret about. Appreciate all the...

    Hello from Wa

That's good to know, about flower shape. I think I will keep taking risks. I love watering my pitiful 15 plants by hand. I feel like I get to know them that way. But if I had to do it everyday I am not so certain I would feel the same way. Maybe I will find out some day. 😂. Thanks for sharing...

    Hello from Wa

They are spectacular. The Joseito is especially wonderful. It seems like mainly the phrags and maudie types are in bloom right now? I am fighting hard not to let myself get sucked down the phrag road-not having an orchid room yet😂. If you have time, could I ask another question, two actually. Do...

    Wondering about pitted leaves

Thanks for all the info, and reassurances. I was hoping to know what caused it so that if I see it on plants under my care I will know what is wrong. When🤞this one puts up a new healthy fan it will be all the sweeter.

    Wondering about pitted leaves

I have several orchids from two different vendors. Several of the orchids arrived with pitted and sunken areas in the middle. The underside of the leaves seems unaffected. I have kept an eye on them and it doesn't seem to be growing and I am not finding evidence of mites (at least I don't think...
