    Paph vietnamense

The red in the staminode. All of the wild collected and cultivated Paph vietnamense I have seen have only had yellow/green staminodes. Google shows a couple of blooms labelled as Paph vietnamense with red in the stami but they are clearly Paph Ho Chi Minh.

    Paph vietnamense

I'm not sure this is a pure Paph vietnamense. Looking at the staminode, I'd guess it's a Paph Vo Nguyen Giap (Paph Ho Chi Minh x Paph vietnamense). What do you think, David?

New book: A Disa Companion: The Art and Science of Disa Cultivation

I bought my copy from the following site without a problem using an Australian cc from a Vietnam address. AuthorHouse http://bookstore.authorhouse.com/Products/SKU-000625406/A-Disa-Companion.aspx

    Paphiopedilum canhii in the wild

I can't explain why it's not listed there. The authors of the article under discussion seem to publish everything they come across but seldom have their "new" species, forms and varieties accepted. I was going to list a few references but the list you linked to, shows some of their work...

    Not so genuine gratrixianum

The original description is posted in this thread http://www.slippertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22360 . Xavier translated the description in post#6 and I've asked other native French speakers to confirm the description. It seems that many taxonomists didn't bother to reference the...

    Not so genuine gratrixianum

The original description of P affine says it was a mottle leaved plant, affine was probably a natural hybrid.

    Tanaka?

I received an email reply from Toshi about 18 months ago so he was still about then. I think Olaf keeps in touch with him. As to why his site hasn't been updated, I have no idea. Mick

    Paphiopedilum gratixianum

I thought the P affine debate was over? Xavier translated the original description of P affine and I asked Dr Braem to confirm a few weeks ago. The translation I received via Dr Braem relating to leaves is. "Leaves 4 to 5, more or less lobed, up to 15 cm long and up to 3 cm wide, more or...
