    Paphiopedilum godefroyae

Oh oh, my english. I did not mean that I have divided the plant. Is "shoot" the right word instead of "division" ?

    Paphiopedilum godefroyae

This plant has gone through a hard time, 6 month ago it lost nearly all divisions because of rot. The remaining new devision is in flower now.

    Stereochilus dalatensis

Nice flower. I´m just waiting for mine to bloom.

Paph godefroyae fma. leucochilum OR Paph. leucochilum???

   Oh, you speak from my heart! I hate to see this inflation of vars and formas, especially at the Phalaenopsis section. Seems that each taxonomist feel compelled to describe as many new (sub)species as possible.

    Broughtonia sanguinea

Jean, you can get it from O&M Orchideen: http://www.orchideen.com/Shop/ Greetings from sunny Berlin ... Ricky

    Broughtonia sanguinea

Eric, that is one more reason, not to buy it. :) I don´t care about the price of a plant ore how rare it is. I only buy plants that I like and who will likely grow in my environment.

    Broughtonia sanguinea

No, thank you. I prefer colored flowers, if possible. :)

    Broughtonia sanguinea

Seems not very common in plantation today but I don´t know why. Easy grower, nice plant.

    Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi - just pollinated

2 days later: the stigma is closed, that´s good. But what is growing there?

    Gastrochilus sororius

I use fluorescent lights, OSRAM T5 or T8, light color 840+865. The mosses grow under 2-10,000 lux (200-1000 fc ?). Here are some quick and dirty pictures from my terrarium: Aktual picture of G. sororius with sphagnum and another moss: Sphagnum in a Tupperware box and on the ground...

    Gastrochilus sororius

Well, what is the problem with the sphagnum? It grows very well in my terrarium, so I have to cut all from time to time. A lot of light, water and fertilizer, that´s all it needs. E.g. here´s my Neofineate falcata with it´s "sphagnum ball" ;) 30.7.2010: 15.2.2011:

The plant isn´t very interesting. Here is a picture 3 month ago:

The flower is only 13mm width.

Every year the same: bud is dying

Thanks for your note, I will keep that in my mind. The plant is now in another habitat with lower light level, lower temperature, higher humility and in a new substrate. If it still has the same problems I will have another possibility to change something.

Every year the same: bud is dying

Jim, I did not. The moss on the pictures ist typical wood moss that ist growing on top of every potting mix (bark, CHC, lava). Nearly all of my plants (mounted or potted) are covered with different mosses. Seems like humility and light levels are high enough in my terrariums.

Every year the same: bud is dying

Not on this plant. It´s in lava now, we will see. My fertilizer has additional Ca and Mg.

Every year the same: bud is dying

Thank you all for your advices. I will keep the plant cooler with lower light in another terrarium.

Every year the same: bud is dying

No, my paphs never. The leaves always stay dry to prevent rot.

Every year the same: bud is dying

The 2nd one from today, the color of the leaves depends on the light color and the light direction.
