    paph identification needed...

That's paph. Ron Williamson (primulinum var. flavum x niveum). Foliage among the same crosses can vary from plant to plant. It's a wonderful cross, and I have many seedlings coming along made with a 4N primulinum which I am excited for!

A Costa Rican Orchid Tour Idea I have, tell me what you think

I'm in for sure! As Robert said... 2 years is more realistic for me as well since I have a newborn here.

    Paph. argus back in stock

These should be of similar quality, but hopefully better, because the parents used were plants selected from the 'Spotty' x 'Eruption' cross (which I do agree was quite good!). I was also able to make a cross with this form by one of the vini (almost pure red) forms from the Orchid Zone. I...

    Paph. argus back in stock

We now have well established seedlings of Paph. argus. These plants are about a year from blooming size. I'm certain that many of them will bloom by next spring. We do not have USPS Priority Mail on our site as of yet because of areas with high temperatures. If you do want to use USPS, please...

    Paph. Constant Great 'Big Gun'

OK, thanks for the tip! I'll mess around with this lens some more.

    Paph. Constant Great 'Big Gun'

Here's my first post using my new camera, which is a Nikon D100 digital SLR with a Nikkor 18-200mm lens. I'm still learning how to use this thing, and I need to get a macro lens for better close ups. It's funny how the cybershot with the Carl Zeiss macro lens that I always use for the website...

    Neofinetia question(s)

Hey Marco, I'm sure because of your temperatures (down to 55) that those are all spikes. Good job, and enjoy! OK back to work for me! Jason

I will bring some to PA.... or were we going to ship you some? Who is selling them on ebay? I've never seen anybody carry these before.

Orchids Limited at Santa Barabara Orchid Fair this weekend.

Yes, this will be my 2nd year as a vendor at Parkside Fest. All the groupies are lined up and run for the neos first thing Saturday morning, so be quick! My schedule is pretty limited this year because of the baby, but I would say in the winter or early next year I could be booked for...

    Neofinetia falcata 'Unkai'

Similar to Seikai, Unkai ('Sea of Clouds') is a mutated-flower neofinetia. To me it looks like a lot of hands sicking up in the air. This is one of the many different flower type neofinetia available. Enjoy!

    Neofinetia falcata 'Shutennou'

I ran out of the in spike plants for this season, but I thought I'd share some of my larger specimens with you. Note that I have one which has short spikes verses one with longer spikes. The fact that many of this variety is grown from seed shows the diversity you can encounter...

Orchids Limited at Santa Barabara Orchid Fair this weekend.

Just in case any of you Californians (or orchid show hoppers) didn't know, I will be at the Santa Barbara Orchid Fair this weekend with 100's of neofinetia, dendrobium moniliforme and misc. paphs/phrags. For more info, click here: http://www.orchidfair.com/ Hope to see you there...

    Phrag Sorcerer's Apprentice

You should see the size of the plant. Sorceror's Apprentice is also one of the largest foliage phrags there is, often measuring 5 feet across. NYEric, FYI, sargentianum can produce darker red petals than besseae, which is why it is one of the best breeders when it comes to red petals.

    Climbing besseaes?

Kyle, My theory is that d'alessandroi and besseae had been exposed to eachother so much that it is hard to tell what is in the background of all the plants from Zamora. Phrag. Jersey (which I would say is a natural hybrid) has probably been crossed back with both forms back and forth many...

    Climbing besseaes?

I believe some besseae from Zamora (along with d'alessandroi) are the ones that are non-stolonous. I have several besseae that do not climb out of the pot. The don't have the big, round petals like the new batches we've seen from OZ, however. Then again, 'Rob's Choice' is non-stolonous...

Neofinetia in spike as of 6/14/07

It is that time of the year, my favorite time, neofinetia time! I have too many oddball sizes of plants to list on our website, so I thought I'd put a list up here of some of the varieties that are starting to spike right now: Neofinetia falcata in spike as of 6/14/07 Oonami Seikai. 1G $55...

Did you know I have my own stamp?

It's true! In 2004 the island of Jersey made a Phrag. Jason Fischer stamp worth 2 pounds. Someone is even selling it on ebay now...

    For those who love miniatures

Ah, good question. I actually made 3 seedpods, 2 of which I made today. The first one you see pictured is by 'Kirin Maru', which is a bean leaf. The other 2 crosses are with the same parent, 'Benisuzume' because it is a small growing neo with pink flowers. I'm trying to keep the size down...
