    Phrag. longifolium 'Fernbrook' AM/AOS

Phrag longifolium is one of the easiest Phrag species to grow and bloom. It is simply a weed and if it has a fault, that is it along with how large it grows. It imparts great vigor and sequential blooming over a long period of time. Like most Phrags it needs good water and wet feet.

    Best movie quotes thread

Monty Python and the Holy Grail King Arthur: [after Arthur's cut off both of the Black Knight's arms] Look, you stupid Bastard. You've got no arms left. Black Knight: Yes I have. King Arthur: *Look*! Black Knight: It's just a flesh wound.

    Phrag. caudatum complex

Rob, this version makes are much sense as any, and better than most taxonomic treatments of this group. The tucking of the aberrant forms (lindenii and exstaminodium) with their close relatives is pretty logical. Throw in the fact that caudatum itself is pretty variable and one can be easily...

    Paph leucochilum TPS/AQ

The flower in the center of the top row is the best flower of the bunch. Great balance, color and pretty flat for the species. The segments are full and the petals don't have the notching that shows in some of the plants. all of these plants have great color, some have better shape than...

    Paph rothschildianum x sib TPS/AQ

Well, the title of this thread is TPS/AQ.....that implies several plants for the award. With the AOS you need 12 plants from the cross of award or near award quality to get an AQ (Award of Quality) which goes to the hybridizer and exhibitor. My guess is that there are many more seedlings...

    Judging Discussion

My answer is to base your decision on whether to bring the plant in or not on the existing record, especially the more recent awards. If you think it is good, just bring it in........If it is awarded or not, have the judges give you feedback on the merits or demerits of the plant so you can...

What do you look for in an orchid? (Please help me with my research!)

I would say impulse, following hybridizing trends including selective sib crosses of species, and most importantly plants that work for my growing conditions.

    Paph. Chiu Hua Dancer

I don't see sanderianum in the flower, and the foliage does show gigantifolium influence.

    June's Orchid Estate News

Frank Smith might be able to help. There is more going on behind the scenes but the folks involved don't want the word out yet. I believe that June simply decided she didn't want to be in the orchid business.

    Phragmipedium Twilight Touch

A similar cross is Phrag Grouville (Eric Young x Hanne Popow) which has the same range of color with red, red-orange, rose, bronze shades, yellow and very soft yellow almost white. That's the Hanne Popow parent in action and the schlimii influence. It's a fun cross to bloom out a population...

    Sam's visit..Berenice album

Ed, Sam told me that the Berenice albino cross was albinistic in look except for the base of the dorsal sepal/petals area with a bit of color. He expects some to be albino. Either is a pleasant result after the similar cross of stonei x philippinense that turned out all normal color.
