It is not easy to bloom rupicolous Laelias (sorry Cattleyas) in rainy Vancouver Canada 😄
After a few years struggling, I finally got some species to grow well and bloom, yeah! It involved a greenhouse and full unfiltered light 10 inches under the roof for all summer. They liked it...
Lae-20 -...
This one is from JP Faust, young plant from 2017. It is the second bloom. The color seems stable now (first bloom had pale streaks across the sepals), only the pouch still has some trouble but hopefully will be more round next time. I really love the pouch lip!
Love the shape and colors ... bought it from Woodstream Orchids 4 years ago (just out of flasks). The first bloom last year had a deformity, so I am very happy with it this year!
It grows in pure Orchiata bark, quite wet most of the time. In greenhouse during spring to fall with big diff. of temperatures day/night. Under light indoors with regular home temperature for the rest of the year.
I bought it as a compot (I assume it was a couple of months out of flasks) in 2013, first bloomed in 2017 (one spike with 2 flowers), now it the second time.
Beautiful! That is one I cannot manage to bloom. It grows very slowly for me and never bloomed in 8 years :( . Any advice on cultural conditions ?
