My Paph. rungsuriyanum arrived US safely.

Proliferation in the flask, maybe? I've grown some Paphs and Phrags from flasks and some seedlings have the tendency to reproduce at an early stage of development within a year out of the flask. Not saying that it's impossible that they were wild collected, it's just an odd coincidence that...

My Paph. rungsuriyanum arrived US safely.

I don't think they were wild collected plants. They look too small and Achima is selling flasks of them on ebay and that is probably where he got them.

rugsuryanum or however you spell it

With a 1" plant in a 4" pot, I second that thought. Blooming size? hahahahhaha..... :rollhappy: Not!
  4. Silvan

    I'm relatively new to orchids

It was grown too warm. That's the only "problem".

    Manzur La Aldea flavum.

    Gorgeous!!!

    Phragmipedium Allison Strohm

No problem. Are you looking for a 2N plant for a breeding program? I can put some pollen on it to see if their Perusian Royalty is fertile and report back :)

    Phragmipedium Allison Strohm

Bel Royal is Memoria Dick Clements x Sorcerer's Apprentice, Eric. From what I've seen on google that cross doesn't have long petals. But seem to make a lot of flowers that open up at the same time. That is what I was expecting and it didn't happen on it's first bloom. So, I'm a bit disappointed...

I got mine from Peruflora. Not sure about the ploidy of the plant, though.

You could also look for a cross using similar parents? I'm thinking about the Perusian Royalty (Bel Royal x kovachii). It might be easier to find a 2N version of that one as I think that all the Allison Strohm are triploids.

    Paph Gregory Booth 'Purity'

    Wow!!!
  11. Silvan

    Same old same old,... :)

I'm in Canada ;) Like Eric said, Piping rock orchids sells that cross and that is where I bought mine. Suzanne Decker seem to be the most stable cross yet. You get the most intense colouring under cool temperature, though. But it's always a gorgeous flower. My favorite cross.

    Angraecum viguieri

Don't despair. They are very slow growers, but they can bloom on a very small plant, also. :)

    New List Sam

We have similar tastes ;) That Lola Bird x roths cross intrigues me quite a bit. I think that the micranthum would help for the overall shape.

    fischeri 4N

Thank you all for your nice comments. :) Yes I know. You're way more patient than I'll ever be. I was just teasing you :p I have two fischeri. a 2N and a 4N and I have to say that the 4N has been easier to grow and bloom than my 2N. fischeri seem to really prefer intermediate temperature...

    fischeri 4N

Thanks Jab and Eric :) You know Ery, if blooming a fischeri is too much of a challenge, you can bring it to the spring expo and I'll bloom it easely for you and give it back for the fall show in bloom. No problem :p :poke: ..Hmph "bake" ;)

    fischeri 4N

"bake" ...hmph! :poke: Summer temp is pretty much the only big difference there is between your growing area and mine. So, what are you going to try next summer ? Growing it in your living room, maybe? Or on a heat mat?

    fischeri 4N

Thanks guys. This fischeri is starting to look like something decent. :) The first bloom on this spike was rounder but the pouch was so small. I'm glad that the proportion are more balanced on that flower. Does your fischeri shows any signs that they are going to bloom? The 'Purple Adipose'...

    fischeri 4N

Second blooming for this little fella. Way better than the first time around. Rounder and fuller but still very small.

    Angraecum viguieri

Gorgeous! Cool that it also bloom on those little keikis (or branches?).

    Finally - a pK

My first kovachii bloomed with temps around 23C-25C and it had the two yellow lines on the pouch. But the subsequent blooms didn't have them and it bloomed earlier in the season with max temp of 25C-27C (77F-80F). I have another one that just started to spike and I expect the plant to bloom in...
