The Mother of All Morality Questions!

I fail to see the moral issue here? Chances are you have artificially propagated plants, thus reducing the pressure on wild populations. It is very sad that any artificially propagated plant that doesn't get you high could be considered "contraband" and I'm sure USFW sees this, thus the "don't...

    Anyone growing Patchouli??

My sister in law was supposed to pick me a Patchouli plant up at the Renaissance Festival but apparently that vendor isn't there this year :( If anyone is growing it I'd love to get a cutting!

    10g Freshwater Iwagumi Tank

Yup, that's HC. The people on the planted tank forum think I'm nuts for running a 70w MH, but I'm guessing a lot of people have trouble with it because they don't have enough light. It's a plant that doesn't just grow underwater, and to me that says good light. Now if I could just find a local...

    10g Freshwater Iwagumi Tank

Nope, and according to one of my fish guru friends they are irradiated when they hatch to make them sterile :( I'm hoping that isn't the case, because I'd love to see the progeny of the different colors breeding together. They might end up in a different tank once everything is grown in and...

    10g Freshwater Iwagumi Tank

I've posted pics of this tank on here before, but figured it deserved it's own thread since it's a work in progress. Iwagumi is an aquatic landscaping style focusing on simplicity and balance, and gives a nice "clean" look I always liked. I originally tried doing the carpeting in Java Moss...

    The Stony Nano (image intense)

A little update on the road to recovery ;) There was a frag swap yesterday (read as coral orchid show lol) and so of course I couldn't come home empty handed. The tank now Replacement Sunset Monti War Coral Aussie Prism Favia Aussie Reverse Prism Favia And a horrible pic of an...

    The person below me game......

False, I've yet to watch it since it's hard enough to keep up with all the other shows I watch TPBM just spent a couple hundred bucks on some new corals and "carpeting" for a freshwater tank

    Phragmipedium chapadense

Did this used to be a variety of longifolium? I have a longifolium that looks identical.

Finally got some pics of the devastation

The SPS were surprisingly easy and grew faster than most of my corals...but add to that commitment list a generator. You should be able to do most of the Montipora species in your tank if you ever want to give SPS a try. Luckily there is a local frag swap this weekend and I've got some Favias...

Finally got some pics of the devastation

There should be a clarification here. Bleaching is often misused to describe tissue necrosis in the media, but they are two very different things. All stony corals have a white skeleton obviously which is covered by clear "flesh" or "skin" whatever you want to call it. Living in this "flesh"...

Finally got some pics of the devastation

Well here she is after removing all the dead corals, siphoning out the slime/hair algae that was completely filling the tank, and doing 20% water changes daily. I also reorganized everything to keep the tank from looking so empty. Luckily reefers are just as kind and generous as orchid people so...

    Fall Mid America Pics

Yeah there were a few sagarakis in the show, but there usually are in shows around here so I didn't pay it any special attention. Unfortunately when I got home the gigantifolium seedling and the hangianum both had crown rot that was too far gone to treat. On the up side, the fanaticum spike...

    Paph what??

Looks like what everyone calls "straight villosum" now a days. This is what I call "straight villosum" which came as a jungle collected plant from Rands back in the 1970s

    The person below me game......

False, I'm finally taking a short trip home to assess the damage and take my girls out for drinks TPBM needs to read up on what's allowed on a plane these days
