    Off Topic - Wile-E Coyote

My best friends parents lost their Maltese to a wild animal and are assuming it was a coyote since we have them all over around here. Not to be insensitive, but since Jakes passing, her parents have now "adopted" a wild bobcat that comes to their fence in the evening for after dinner scraps. I...

    Fall Mid America Pics

Right back at ya ;) And I gotta admit, your paintings are even more incredible in person! My past dabbles in art are on here somewhere, and I could only imagine being able to paint like that.

    Fall Mid America Pics

Nope, didn't register for the show to hear the talks, just did setup/tear down and shopping lol The vietnamense alba seedling was $200 The Phrag on the left was Jason Fisher, and the others I'll look up when I get home...if they were PK hybrids I would have gotten close ups ;)

    Fall Mid America Pics

Yup Uri, that's Bulb. phalaenopsis and you gotta love all the newer people to orchids that don't think twice when you tell them to smell the flowers... Unfortunately, Piping Rock didn't have any PK hybrids in bloom, but they did have straight PK seedlings for sale. They also had vietnamense...

    Fall Mid America Pics

Another great Mid America was this weekend and I think it turned out well. Our society co-hosted it with the Greater Cincinnati Orchid Society. There were many great vendors and exhibits, I just wish I would have remembered my camera on the first day instead of the last. I ended up buying a...

    Brachy leaf patterns

Funny accents? Tell that to every girl here in Ohio that melts when they hear an Australian guy talk. Makes me want to go spend the winter down under and see if I can pick a little up...or see if the Ohio accent works on Australian girls:evil:

Turns out it originally came from Hoosier Orchid Company. The cross is 'Hihimanu' x 'H&R'

LOL Heather... You know those Tshirts that say "My parents went to Loch Ness and all I got was this shirt". It's the geological equivalent of that :)

    mounting paphs?

Yes many species like lowii do grow in trees, but most grow in pockets of moss and debris that collect in the crotches of limbs. I'd say the closest to replicating that would be growing them in a slated wood basket of moss. I have seen them mounted before with a TON of moss, but you would still...

I'll check the tag when I get home to see where it came from since I'm pretty sure it still has the original tag. Now I just need to invest in the 100mm macro lens for my camera ;)

    Cycnoches cooperi

Another plant that should finish blooming right before our local Mid America:mad: This is the first blooming with two spikes, and I didn't realize how scented these were! It smells just like Tuberolabium kotoense which is one of my favorite orchid fragrances since it reminds me of a toy or...

    Critter Help

How many plants are we talking about here? I've been through all the pesticides you can imagine with surprisingly poor results. I'd usually cycle through Malathion, Diazinon, and Chlordane and still have bugs. I've used alcohol and the Bayer...both worthless on my collection but apparently work...

BEWARE!!!! This is a rant on the orchid business

If she can keep a Miltoniopsis alive for 6 weeks, she's almost got me beat lol

    Mislabeled Paph

I'm guessing they wrote Pulsar instead of Quasar...only because I could see myself doing the same thing.

    Dollgoldi

LOL, now that I make more money than I did when I was a teenager, this is my strategy as well ;)

    Jolokia peppers

Guess I've been out of the pepper scene for a while since I haven't heard of these guys. I always liked the flavor of habenaros and mexican hats, guess I'll have to look up seeds for these guys.
