If you want to have all flowers en leaves in focus, you will need a depth of field greater than f:11, but you will need way more light! I find you photographs very good and don't need really much more DOF. On the first picture for example, if you were to use f:11, you should aim the focus at the...

    Coelogyne glandulosa

It is most likely not C. flaccida (syn. lactea) because the lateral lobes of the labellum would have brown stripes. Another criteria for this species is the spike starting from the base of an adulte pseudobulbe, whereas C. glandulosa has the spike growing in the new growth, before or along with...

    Paphiopedilum helenae

Thank you all for the kind comments. Yes John you are right about the plant growth, it has started to grow side shoots on old growths since this summer, so I have 4 simultaneous new growths now, finger crossed for multi-blossoms next year! I reported this plant in pure Orchiata couple of years...

    Masdevallia decumana

Best show to date for this plant I have had for a few years. It used to have one or two flowers simultaneously, but this time is great. 3 more buds are coming along :D

    Cymbidium goeringii 'Tian Cao' 天草

Hi Matt, They are often for sale on eBay, or just ask Satomi from Japanese Orchids, I got mine from her ;-) Unfortunately I lost most of my plants last summer due to poor care and bad weather. I find the cymbidium coeringii more sensitive to infection than Neofinetia because they need very hot...

    Maxillaria coccinea

No fragrance detected... You are right Adam about the Maxillaria genus... this is why it has been split in many different new geniuses I suppose!

    Clowesia Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink'

The main challenge is to avoid watering at bad timing : in spring before new growths are big enough, and in fall when leaves start dropping. Like all Catasetinae, the main killer is rot on pseudobulbs. Otherwise, I grow them well on south windowsill, full sun (Vancouver sun :rollhappy:)

    Clowesia Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink'

I would guess it is the same, I have seen sellers from Thailand using this name, Catasetum instead of Clowesia (I think it was called Catasetum long time ago).

    Maxillaria coccinea

A species not often seen on the forums... or in nurseries! It took me some years to find one, and I am so glad I finally did! Thank you Andy! I just got it in January so I don't take credit for the bloom! It is great to see all those little buds coming out of the sheaths surrounding the newly...

    Clowesia Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink'

This is the third year I own this plant, and it is its best bloom to date. Unfortunately I lost a spike in the early stages of growth, so only 3 went all the way to blooming. I hope to do better next year :D This is one of my favourites orchid genus (Clowesia), not only for the beauty of its...

No I didn't bid on it (assuming we are talking about the same plant - Mo x Cata from SVO...), but I got many plants from SVO and they are fantastic!
